First, please restart the computer, and take out off the Windows 7 DVD, then test if you can boot in windows Vista. If you can't, please insert your Vista Installation DVD to boot from this DVD to the Windows Recovery Environment, then choose Startup repair. Then restart your computer to test if you can boot in Vista. Once you can boot in Vista, please upload the log files as soon as possible. I hope this can help you. Sincerely!

As you may already know they can perform a complete install without the need for entering a key code. Just skip the keycode and unckeck the 'Activation' box. However once they have Admin priv. it's easy to install a keycode utility and get any and all keycodes for Windows and most apps you have installed.

Hi Eric, I would start by upgrading and/or resetting the BIOS settings to the default and disconnect all but the necessary devices (keyboard + maybe a mouse) and see if the installation comes through then. Similar case was resolved by disconnecting the internent access. In addition, ask Acer if your PC's devices are fully compatible with windows 7. To avoid data loss and be able to boot into system, you can perform clean install on...

Hi Dave It's definitely a driver issue, I doubt that IE8 would be causing this particular problem. Doing some quick research, it looks like that particular onboard chipset has not been supported with updated drivers since around 2002? I think it might be time to invest in an add-in audio card, if you have an open slot on that motherboard. Go to the following website and search for "Audio". Windows 7 Compatibility...

Hi David, Yes, I do mean a Repair Install but I would rather suggest performing a clean install of Windows 7 in order to save your times and effort. :) Before performing that, please first backup all you files and data to an external hard drive or other partitions. Alternatively, you can run Windows Easy Transfer to do the backup. After that, you need to purchase a full version of Windows 7 and perform a Clean Install. Good Luck!

1. Vista will uninstall automatically. 2. If you do an in place upgrade, yes. (but you should still backup your files just in case something goes wrong - which is rare) If you are running Windows Vista , in some cases you can in place upgrade directly to Windows 7 and in other cases you will need to perform a custom installation. The following table shows which editions of Windows Vista can be in place upgraded to Windows 7. If you're...

Dual Boot question
Published (2009-12-04 20:38:00)
1. Delete XP partition. You may also want to create or extend exisiting partitions to fill up the now unused space. In a dual-boot scenario like this, the boot files for BCD (aka win7) will be on the XP partition, so deleting the XP partition makes win7 unbootable, but all is not lost. 2. Boot into your win7 install DVD and choose to repair startup problems. This will reinstall the BCD boot files for win7, this will get you back into win7.

Don't think you're doing anything wrong. I'm having exactly the same problem with a properly set up and captured UK based install reverting to US after the recovery process.. Hi Slow installs are known issues. The problem is that there is no information on exactly why they are slow. The longest I have seen was 16 hours with a Beta Build 7000 clean install. After the install completed, the system was perfectly solid for 3 months until the RC was released. The RC installed on that same system in under 30 minutes? There doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason for ...

Perhaps your Power Supply Unit needs to be upgraded to a more powerful one that will support the higher wattage requirements of the HIS Radeon HD 4650 AGP.  Normally, this video card requires a 450 watt PSU.  By default, Windows 7 does install the generic VGA driver and the Radeon HD 4650 is indeed supported.

Press the Ctrl+Alt+Del keys and pick "Start Task Manager" from the list. Then kill the update process (note: you may need to click on the Show All Processes" option) This will at least stop the update. Next post the KB number associated with the update.

Yes. Very puzzling. Did you check the DVD in another machine to see if it is readable? Is the BIOS boot order set to boot from the DVD/CD before the HD? Will the setup run from within the previous OS? Are there any notes on upgrading to Windows 7 on the laptop makers web site? Just some thoughts. Tom

Hi, I understand that your system now dual boots. There are two OSs installed, both Windows 7. With the system powered off and unplugged, open the case and unplug the new disk (disk 1, I believe). Remove both cables, that to SATA controller and the other to power. Make sure the remaining drive is connected to SATA 1 connector and is properly connected to power. That should be your ...
