Ok. Here's what i want to do: migrate a
virtualized Windows 2000 from an existing VMWare GSX to Hyper-V environment.
Here's what i have done: 1- ensure the guest operating system is running fine inside VMWare and install the latest patches 2- shutdown the guest operating system from VMWare 3- copy the whole directory containing the .vmx and .vmdx including nvram logs etc2 to SCVMM...

Hi Mike, In order to manage a
Windows 2008 R2 host, VMM must also be at R2 (4271). This is why the P2V is failing to this particular host. So, there are a couple of choices here. The best solution would be to upgrade your VMM installation to R2. This will allow you to manage both Windows 2008 R2 and Windows 2008 SP2 hosts. Hi, Thanks for posting your question on VMM. Please capture a trace while
reproducing the error and provide access to the trace files. I don't want to assume anything, but being that the Source machine is W2K3 are you doing an online P2V?
