Hello Joshua, Thanks for your post. Firstly, cross-platform upgrade (32-bit to 64-bit) is not a supported path, as the following page describe: Upgrading from Windows Server 2003 http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/why-upgrade-2003.aspx Secondly, the method how you can migrate the terminal services profile depends on how you configure the profile originally. Please include more details about that and this will be...

Hello Aaron, I think this is configured in hte web.config file located in "C:\Windows\Web\RDWeb\Pages" there you find: <!-- Public/Private Mode Timeout for FBA --> <add key="PublicModeSessionTimeoutInMinutes" value="20" /> <add key="PrivateModeSessionTimeoutInMinutes" value="240" /> try...

Installing SSL Certificates
Published (2009-12-04 22:42:00)
MarkGeorge, You install certs (j2 Global tells you how) by importing them into the Certificates MMC (computer personal store). Then you add them, as nurseware says, to TS Config General tab on each session host server. What are you trying to accomplish? Are your session host servers part of a farm or individuals? (it matters as far as the names on the certs are concerned). If they are in a farm, the same cert, (the one with the farm name)...

Thanks for the info! We will investigate this further. Until then, we don't have a good workaround for you except that you can disable IP Virtualization for your app or not use LDAP. Proposed As Answer by Munindra Das [MSFT] 14 hours 9 minutes ago

No, HTTP redirection will work perfectly provided you set it up correctly :) You need to apply redirection on the root of the website (and not on the /rpc or /rpcwithcert virtual directories). Also choose the option to apply redirection only on the root path and not on the sub-directories. Once this is done, everything should work like charm for you :)

Aurimas, I don't believe that opening a support case is of any help here as your system works as designed. It's not a bug. What you want is a new feature, like "Display the old-style TS logon screen for a configurable period of time even if the user is not authenticating". I know that members of the RDS product team are watching this forum, so by now they should know about your requirement and they may put it on...

Terminal Server is W2k8 x64. DC is W2k8 x64. RDP Client is 6.0 on XPP X32 I have created some shortcuts and printer mappings within a GPP that applies to a group. This group is only referenced within the TS OU which has inheritance blocked and loopback processing set. At first the shortcuts were placed correctly and the printer mapped. I needed to change one of the shotcuts sos I removed it from GPP, ran gpupdate /force on both TS, recreated...

Thank you, your second proposal works perfectly! But the path is a little bit different: Start|Run|gpedit.msc then Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Terminal Services\Terminal Server\ Client_Server data redirection \Do not allow clipboard redirection --> set to "Disabled" --> works :) Thanks a lot!! I have a server with an M-Audio 1010LT audio card installed, running audio playback software. This software needs to stay running and playing at all times.
We were previously running Windows Server 2003 and when we RDPed into the box for maintenance, we simply made sure that 'Leave at remote computer" was selected under Remote Desktop's sound settings. This allowed us to control the ...

Paul, Foundation Server has RDS functionality (per Microsoft documentation: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/r 2-compare-features.aspx ), so that is good. Have you tried installing the license server on another machine and then installing the CALs? How about calling the MS Clearing House and having them help you? Also, I don't understand what you did here: " As a ...

Edward, First you should upgrade the client OSs. 95 and 98 are out of support. ( http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?p1=6513 ) What version of TS are you running? When you say "go down" what does that mean? Are the connections still showing up in TS Manager on the terminal server, but the client has been disconnected? Or does the client session end and the client has to start a ...

what happens if you remove and re-add the card reader? Any errors in the clients event logs? Does the client get any popups in the lower right (about removing devices...) Does the device still show up as working correctly in device...

There are 2 key steps here: 1. install the cert on the RDSH server (j2 outlined that). The 2nd step is configuring RDP to use the cert, follow the instructions below:
In Server Manager under Roles and under Remote Desktop Services you need to click on RD Session Host Configuration and in the center panel of the MMC under "Connections" you double-click your connection name (by default ...

Hi, Are you sure you dont have any policies enabled which prevet users from runnin SUBST, or that you dont have a policy enabled which hides specific drive letters? I think this is a permission issue in the first place.

Hello, I believe you cannot redirect the profile like you suggested. The only thing then is to work with roaming profiles. As this is also not what I would suggest to use it would be better to use a hybrid profile with folder redirection. I always use immidio flex profiles for my terminal server solutions but there are other products in the market. Please see http://www.immidio.com/...

Hello Ian, Maybe I don't really understand your question but why not use a host file for each ts-user on the users local machine and point that to one of the servers. In that way user1 will always logon to server 1 and user 2 always to server 2. ?? Robert

Hi, For the problematic user in the user properties in AD, go to the Environment tab and check if there is any setting for starting a program at logon. If there is any setting, disable (untick) it and try to repliceta your problem again. Or, alternatively, you can disable "start the follownig program" in the RDC, and instead of that enable it in the user profile > Environment tab.
