I would pay attention to what the different results the Dutch O.S. is getting and on what keyword. The KeywordQuery class has a Culture property which is set based on the regional settings of the Site or the browser's regional settings. This property controls word breaking and stemming rules so this may make a difference. You may want to make sure the Site has only one regional setting set. If the Site allows individual regional settings...

Hi, I do not understand your requirement either. Could you please elaborate a bit? Generally, the search feature in SharePoint Server is designed for search the resource across the farm, but not the desktop. For desktop search, you could investigate Windows Search (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/desktopsearch/default.mspx). -lambert

Hi, I think it is by design; MOSS 2007 provides two categories of search scopes: Custom scopes: “All Sites”, “People”…; Contextual scopes: “This Site”, “This List”. When choosing “Use custom scopes. Display richer results using the following search center” in Search Settings, it will change the search result page for the custom scopes. But this setting has no effect on Contextual scope results, which always to to...

Hi, I have developed a custom Search Results web part. This web part utilizes the KeywordQuery class in order to perform the search and display the results. This Web Part is deployed on the Results.aspx page that gets generated by default when you create a site. The Results.aspx page also contains the "Search Statistics" Web Part and the "Search Paging" Web Part. My Questions on this are 1. How does...

Ivan, Thanks for the reply. However, the application pool in question is not the SSP appPool - it's the "OfficeServerApplicationPool". It's failing on an attempt to open: http://server:56737/SearchAdmin.asmx . I haven't found any commands for updating its AppPool's identity. Additionally, I have access to several other existing Farms where it runs fine under Network Service. For some reason though, these...

Hi Ravi.N, I can’t reproduce this problem on my machine. 1. What’s the version of your MOSS? If you haven’t installed SP2, I suggest you install SP2 first and run post configuration wizard. 2. When you search for other documents, did the search result return the correct file name? 3. How did you configure MOSS Search? Please double check your search configurations following the document below:...

Hi Everyone, We have a strange problem. On a simple SharePoint list with client data, me and my colleagues most of the time get the same results when we search for the same keyword (99% of the time). But sometimes (1%) i do get a result and my co-worker doesn't. Does anyone have an idea about how this is possible? I've checked the permissions, but the funny thing is, all items are created by ...

Did you create a new "managed" property mapped to the crawled property in "Metadata Properties" section of search administration? After you created the new profile property there should be a crawled property for it in the "People" category. Make sure there are values for the Profile property also.

Working on a new farm install: 4 Servers (2 WFE, 1 Index/App, 1 DB). On the Index/App server, everything works fine. On the 2 WFEs, whenever I go to Central Admin -> Operations -> Services on Server and click on 'Office SharePoint Server Search' , it errors out. The Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Query including the KeywordQuery derived type does not expose any methods or properties to support paging queries. You will have to implement paging based off of the returned datatable. You can use the System.Web.UI.WebControls.PagedDataSource to easily do this. Below is an example of a method that will return a datatable which represents a paged subset of the ...

Hi, You can exclude results by adding exclude rules to the search configuration. However be aware that you cannot exclude the navigation, you would need to do something custom to remove this. Liam

Hi all,
I am trying to intercept the html sent to the WSS crawler in order to remove page content that should not be indexed.
My latest attempt was to write a web part that assigned a filter to the http Response object (i.e. Page.Response.Filter) if the current user was the account used for crawling. The filter removes <!--wssoff--> -tags (dont know why I call them that ;-)).

Hi Gopi, One thing that strikes my mind is to have a hidden field and store the first 200 words in the doc lib directly by using the event handler and then use this field in your query, would do... But this becomes fairly complex when you have to use the pdf readers as well.... :(

Hi George, AFAIK, it is the standard behaviour, as SharePoint indexes the latest published version of documents, so if your document is not checked in, it will be simple ignored during the crawling process. Solution would be to implement a custom protocol handler having different behaviour, but that sounds like not a trivial enterprise. Peter Marked As Answer by George Takei 18 hours ...

Hi Dave, Please see the following KB article which explains how to update SharePoint passwords. It looks like the SSP account's cache credentials are corrupt. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934838 You want to focus on step 6a from that article as that command updates the SSP account credentials, but it would not hurt to also complete step 1a-d also just to make sure the farm account is also ...
