Hello Matt,    For one, why are you mounting the WIM in your temp folder? Also, have you ran a Process Monitor and/or Handles.exe to determine if there are any open handles to any files that are located inside the mounted WIM? Thanks,

If you're on XP, you might need to repair Windows using the XP CD. Here's a great article about rundll32.exe and how to troubleshoot it: http://www.fileinspect.com/fileinfo/rundll32-exe/

KMS Host across multiple subnets
Published (2009-12-22 19:18:00)
I have a wierd one...tried googling didn't find anything, so hoping someone can help me here. I run a 2003 KMS host with a B key...anyhow, we are a software dev company and we have a dev lab, which happens to be on a different subnet.  What I found is that when you are on the same subnet as the kms host, you can activate successfully, however, on any other subnet it doesn't work.  How do you make it so it can work...

Using KMS with multiple Licenses
Published (2009-12-25 13:47:00)
I've read that it's only possible to use KMS when you have at least 25 workstations. What if, we have those 25 workstations, consisting of Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 2008 stations? We would have to use 3 differtent Licenses. My question, if this is possible with only one KMS service (server) or three. And do you need 25 workstations per license or per KMS service. Thanks for you reply.

Problem with unattended Sysprep

It's a totally new installation of Windows 2003 R2 SP2, and WDS, so it hasn't been upgraded. Will check what mode it's in.

Hello,   I am sorry to say that the answer is no, to both of the questions.   I can fully understand your concern, however, based on my research, the DNS server role is hard coded in system. This also means that for now, in Windows Web Server 2008, this can hardly be changed.   Just for your reference, here are two articles giving some general information on Windows ...

Hello Mheijkant, The 25 Count will have to be of Vista / Windows 7, to activate. The count must be 5 for Windows 2008 / 2008 R2 to activate. (Note: These counts are seperate, and require 5 servers to start activating servers, and require 25 clients to start activating the clients) On your KMS host, you would install the correct key, Ex: If you want to be able to activate Windows 2008 R2...

Heya folks ... tricky question for ya today! I have a machine that has a CD-Rom drive (only) and won't boot off of an external device (DVD Reader) ... and I'm trying to figure out a way to install Home Server on the box for testing purposes... So does anyone know how I can do that? There has to be a documented, MS-recommended way to do this? Thanks in advance.

Hi, It is expected that VAMT only refreshes the licensing statuses of computers in Active Directory or in Workgroup. As the laptops are not connected to your company’s intranet, their licensing statuses will not be available. I am afraid that we cannot refresh computer licensing status without losing the previous results. One way you can consider to work ...
