Thanks a lot Edoardo. I found that the root of problem is DNS suffix search list. We can follow steps as below for fixing. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/275553 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/294785/ Thank you for your support. -Peace. Hello, Thank you for your post here. From the description, you want to know how to deploy the DHCP server with super scope to serve multiple subnets. To configure the DHCP server with super scope to serve multiple subnets, you just need to assign a IP address in its own subnet. On the Multilayer switch/router that splits the broadcast domain, enable the DHCP relay for the network without DHCP server and point to the DHCP server in...

Hello, copy the extracted inetres.adm file to the C:\windows\inf folder on your computer, rename the existing one to inetresold.adm to keep it in case something doens't work. Now create the new GPO on that machine and you should have the options. Also see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816662

DNS Setup

To properly answer this question, it depends on what the goals are. If you goal is to make your zones HIGHLY available accross the forest without any additional need for the DNS servers to forward requests, then YES, you should enable replication accross all DNS servers in the forest. However, keep in mind that the DNS administrators in the child domains will be able to see all of the records from the parent zone and those in the parent...

DNS Randomly do not resolve domains
Published (2009-11-30 13:51:00)
Did some more research. Found that this can be due to "This event is normal if you jus recently promoted the domain controller." This is a new DC. We are redoing the old one and this one is a Hyper-v client running it while it is reinstalled with x64 windows. So how do i stop it trying to replicate? I have restarted the DNS and looks better now but will have to have a look if the errors return Regards

Hello toolbox,
It is hard to say why some of the Windows Vista clients only register IPv6 address in DNS server.
You may find a normal windows vista client and a client in question to post the result of "ipconfig /all" command line here for comparison.
In order to force register Windows Vista client with its IPv4 address, please refer to the ...

Hi, In order to troubleshoot this problem, please check the following settings: 1. Verify that File & Printer Sharing is enabled on Windows XP. 2. Share some folders on Windows XP and try to visit from other Windows XP system. What’s the result? 5...

Hi Rachael, If your server is runing Windows 2008 or later version, you can check the DHCP event log in Event Viewer(Local) -> Applications and Services logsLogs -> Microsoft -> Windows -> DHCP-Server. If your server is runging Windows 2003, you might need to check the DHCP audit logs. Please refer to: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc75825 1(WS.10).aspx http://technet....

Hi, If it’s the first time to create AD environment, please try to test in lab before setting up in production environment. There are some step by step guides below, you could try to follow them. Active Directory requires DNS. Other roles, such as DHCP, RODC are optional. Please refer to the following article to check DNS server: DNS requirements for installing Active Directory http...

Hello, if you have implemented the use of the search list in the Domain Suffix Search Order defined on the DNS tab of the Microsoft TCP/IP Properties page, devolution will not occur. The query will be appended to the domain suffixes specified in the list. To avoid using the search list, always use a Fully Qualified Domain Name (that is, add the trailing dot to the name).

There are several options at your disposal. One option is to consolidate all of your zones into Active Directory integrated zones on the DNS servers located in the new domain. Then you can remove those zones from the old servers and have the existing old DNS servers forward to the DNS servers in your new domain. You could also retire all of the old DNS servers and have all of your clients ...

Hi All
We are experiencing the same thing. This problem came to light after we starting seeing TGS errors for our Linux proxy from the KDC appearing in the system event log. We ran the dcdiag tests and this jumped out.
As over 380 geeks have now looked at the original post and not a single suggestion has been forthcoming are we to assume that this is a "feature" of AD ...
