Is it showing this in the Address book or on the actual contacts? The setting in Outlook only applies to new contacts. The backup issue is important. There is no automated way to restore Outlook that works. They corrupt your profile. The only supported method for migrating Outlook data is to open the file in the new Outlook profile. You need to start by creating a new Outlook profile and migrating your data correctly using the methods we post he http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.htm http://www.howto-outlook.com/Howto/backupandrestore.htm...

Did you try using File, Save as (choose MSG format, unicode msg format if the recipient is using outlook 2003 or 2007) or dragging them to the desktop? Test it with one of the contacts that lost the notes in the export first. As for why some worked and some failed, was there any differences in the length of the notes? -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center:...

Expected behavior. Outlookâs autocompletion feature has nothing to do with
your Contacts. It uses a cache of previous recipients.

What type of phone?
Outlook data is synced to smart phones either using activesync or the sync
software the phone uses. Ie, my blackberry uses the blackberry desktop
manager if I use the internet services or is synced over the air using
blackberry enterprise server.

Expected behavior. Autocompletion has nothing to do with Contacts. It uses a
separate cache that consists of previous recipients. If you didn't migrate
the cache, it is empty. It will be repopulated as he sends messages. If that
cache was of value, then you should have backed it up and migrated it. Learn

There is no address book in Outlook.
You never import Outlook data.
How to migrate Outlook data is posted here daily.
The file you need is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the
mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.
Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup or transfer:

I'd add a new pst to your profile, copy the contacts to it and close the pst
then zip it and send the zipped pst.

Depends on how you migrated your data. DL's only survive if you do it
correctly. "Restore from pfbackup" tells us nothing.

Outlook uses your default dialing location for your OS to format numbers, so

What do you mean by " Contact List?" Where are these Contacts not appearing
that you think they should? Contacts without electronic addresses would not
be expected to appear in the address book view, for example. There would be
no use for them there.

I can only find "New Group"in the tool bar
Outlook doesn't use "groups" to send to multiple contacts. Either use
Distribution lists, or better, use a Category.

I created and re-named 4 user-defined fields. I then bought a new laptop and

came across OK (except for my categories which were there but had to be
"re-added" (it was weird).
My big problem is that my user-defined fields (and the content) are nowhere
to be found. I found the "User-defined 1" thru 4 in ...
