Published (2009-11-19 10:45:00)
I've tracked this down to a requirement for Service Pack 2c which isn't available to downloaded. This was due to Microsoft running out of XP license keys in 2007 and new keys were released to system builders. So now I know this and know I can't download service pack 2c, is there a patch available from PSS that would allow me to use my Service Pack 2c keys on a service pack 2 machine?

After installing and running several times, Windows now says that my product key is invalid. Do I need to purchase a new license for my new computer or is there some other way to use my existing one from my non-functional...

Hello Iron_Man_NY, If your purchased used HP Pavilion laptop has a Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) for Windows on it, then it is a virtual certainty that the laptop is still licensed to run the version and edition of Windows described on the CoA. The reason why you are not able to activate the current installation of Windows XP Pro on the laptop is because it was done with the Gateway discs,...

I purchased 20 copies of Windows XP Professional from various sources on eBay. All came with printed booklets, COA and hologrammed disks. When I installed the first one, it stated it was not genuine. So I prepared a list of all 20 keys and sent it off to the Microsoft Validation team and asked for confirmation of the validity of all the keys. I did this with the idea of getting my money back ...
