OneCare has nothing to do with your personalized page, if that's what you are referring to. Many personalized portal pages will present you with a default city based on your IP address. So, whatever weather you are referring to is probably being shown for NYC as your IP address shows you physically connected to the Internet somewhere in the NYC area. It can also be that the page provider sets NYC as the default for everyone until you...

Guest account settings

Hello, I'm trying to set up a computer set up for guest. We're using Windows 2000 with the guest account. How does one set up the guest account to have permanent settings beyond the initial settings that are original to Microsoft. Specifically, we can't seem to change the regional settings and the homepage settings. They always reset, as is the case with a guest account. However, the initial settings have to be set...

Computer randomly turning off
Published (2009-11-16 20:48:00)
The title is pretty self explanatory. Sometimes my computer randomly turns off. Ill unplug it for a while (30-60 minutes) plug it back in, and it'll work for like half an hour. Then it turns off again. Eventually, after anywhere from 1-3 weeks, it works again. What is happening and how can i prevent it? This is what I am trying to do...... I have about a 30-40 user LAN that I need to set up and secure. After doing a bunch of research and asking some people, I am still a little confused. There will be a T1 connection coming into the bldg. Somebody recommended that I look into a proxy server to help with security issues. I was thinking about just using a router and some switches. The same person told me to hook it up this...

I have ENterprise, purchased from the government employee program, loaded on my laptop and an old laptop. I would like to load Enterprise on my wife's new laptop and on our home desktop. I appears that licensing restrictions prevent the program from being loaded on more than two computers. Need assistance in loading Enterprise on our two other computers. Thanks. Twice someone has gone into my account and sent an e-mail to all on my address book. The message directs the recipient to go to a website for purchases. I'm not savvy on computers. I don't know if this is phishing, hijacking or what it's called. What do I do to make prevent it from happening again? Changed Type Stephen Boots MVP , Moderator 23 hours 56 minutes ago off topic ...

Error code 0x08402805 means that some Safety Scanner file(s) did not download. A dial-up 56K connection takes about two hours to download. The complete download is over 50 Meg. You can use the Task Manager Networking tab to see if the download is still in progress or if it is actually hung up. The free OneCare Safety Scanner is not supported here, but on these sites: http://boards.msn...
