I didn't say that you should set that IP address and DNS. Don't configure either computer's network connection yourself. Let ICS do it. On the laptop, check the wireless network connection status. It should show these values that ICS assigned to it: IP Address: 192.168.0.1 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: none DNS Server = none On the desktop, configure the wired network connection to obtain...

Hi Suzieq46, Just want to add onto what the other two here said... Many e-mail providers, including Windows Live Hotmail, now provide e-mail services that offer a completely synchronized mailbox between their servers, your computers, and many portable devices. That may be the easiest approach to your issue. Hope that helps!

Hi Klenog
Thank you for using Microsoft Answers Forums!
What we can do here is that we can activate your new Copy of Windows Vista. And then you can transfer the account settings and data to the new version after which you can format the first version of the OS. You will not be able to use both OS’s with the same Product Key.

Are you on a Domain or in a workgroup?
Do you have DNS running?
What is the server OS?
Are these static or dynamically assigned IPs.
Are all firewalls turned off?
Can you do a ping /a against any other machine and get the computer name to resolve? Matt Hudson

Control Panel - Network - write down make and model of Wifi - double click on it - driver's tab - write down version - click Update Driver (may not do anything as MS is far behind certifying drivers). Then Right Click on Wifi Device and UNINSTALL - Reboot...

Do both computers connect directly to the router, through either a wireless or wired connection? If so, you don't need to set up Internet Connection Sharing. If the desktop can't connect to the router, it can connect to the Internet through the laptop: 1. Connect the two computers to each other using an Ethernet cable. 2. Share the laptop's wireless network connection: a. Go to...

So basically I've been having problems with my wireless for a month or two, I've had it plugged in since but it's getting inconvenient. It stopped working a little bit after Comcast had me install something, they gave me a new modem and a disc to go with it, I don't remember what it was for, but I kept the same router. It was fine for a day then went downhill from there, and I just plugged...
