Hi CJNPP, Did following the steps in my previous post help?   If the errors are intermittent, you can check the Event Logs for the error code and there is a tool that helps resolve the issue. Here are the steps to check the Event Logs. Click Start > Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Performance Information and Tools > Advanced Tools On this screen, under Performance issues , you may see issues listed...

Ok, let's go back to square one. What version of Windows were you upgrading/updating from? What version are you trying to install (c/w 32 or 64 bit?). Is your install dvd a commercial one, or one burned from a dowload? What are your hardware specs? Exactly what steps did you take to start the install and the attempted reinstalls? You say the dvd does not boot and that Windows just starts running by itself. Does this mean that some...

I think I've got to the bottom of this finally.  Steps I took: made sure I had undone previous bad takeown (redo takeown as administrator incl subdirs but have to reapply some overrides).  restored previous version of c:\windows\Installer Directory contents (actually had to COPY local and COPY again) set the OWNER of the Installer parent directory to SYSTEM (*key step*).  Do not propogate to sub directories. the WLive icons came back...

Hi robbyb2,   Welcome to Microsoft Answers. I would suggest you to first boot the computer in safe mode and then perform a clean boot and in clean boot state try to boot the computer in normal mode. If you are able to that then after coming to normal mode you may uninstall the office program and then check with reinstallation   –   In Safe mode, you have access to only basic files and drivers. To start in safe mode , follow these steps -...

I too am running into this same problem.  My System Reserved drive only has 30 MB free, and the Backup program states it needs 50 MB free in order for Shadow Copy service to be able to start the backup... This is ridiculous!  Why didn't Microsoft just make the default of the System Reserved drive a little bigger?  I'm working on a 2TB drive!  The Setup program should see the size of drive, ...

I use to run Vista home premium x86 on a acer computer. This summer I downloaded Windows 7 rc x86. Every new and then the computer freezes, some days over 30 times. I thought it was hardware problem and tried a lot of hardware finders and nothing helped. I...

Hello! I was one of the lucky hosts of a Windows 7 party, so back in early October, I upgraded my HP A6530F from Vista Home Premium x64 to Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Everything was fine for the first few weeks, but recently my computer has developed an annoying problem: I rebooted one day with my 2G iPod Shuffle attached, and Windows would not finish booting. It got to where the splash screen ...
