Hello RodgerTN, I understand completely how you feel. I have seen the proper way to remove the arrow without interferring with the pinning. But you would have to search around for it. Although as you saw before, Modifying REGISTRY settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of REGISTRY settings can be solved....

Glad I found this!  I have a bit of a problem.  I found that I could not right-click-drag or CTRL-drag a .exe into the folder to make a shortcut.    The system refuses with an error: Windows can't create a shortcut here.  Would you like to place it on the desktop? I could make the shortcut in the original folder and then drag it to my new 'utils' folder in C:\Users\All Users\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs. Do I...

Yes. You can put your system in clean boot state and check if the startup is still slow. Refer: How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 for details on clean boot and perform the steps mentioned. With clean boot, you can identify if any 3rd party app or startup icon causes the slow startup. Perform the steps mentioned in the article above and let me know what happens! Cheers!

Hi thornse, This happens if the "My Pictures" shell folder path is invalid. Use the information in the following page to fix the shell folder path (manually or using a REG file). "Browse for more pictures..." link in the Windows 7/Vista User Accounts applet does not work (Works in Windows 7 as well.) Logoff and login back for the change to take effect.

When I try to change a shortcut icon or customize a folder icon, Windows assigns a different icon than the one I selected. It is similar to a problem I had with the first destop I bought with factory installed Win XP. I recall the solution was to replace the shell32.dll file with a copy of a shell32 file from Win 98. Will this work with Win 7? 1 person needs an answer I do too
