Restore Point: Try tapping F8 at startup, and from the list of startup selections, select Safe Mode by using UP Arrow Key to go there > then hit Enter. Try a System Restore once there, to pick a Restore Point before your problem.. Click Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore > pick a different time > Next > etc...

Hi Bill Bernard , Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forums. First I would suggest that you check in the BIOS setup if the SATA hard drive is set to IDE mode and try the installation again. For the hard drive to be detected during the installation you will need to install the drivers for the SATA hard drive and check if it works. Thanks Mick the above link was the first thing that I tried, that was one of my problems the box for compatibility is not ticked so I am unable to undo it: yet the computer says that compatiblity is still on. Iappreciate the time you have taken to help regards Robyn.

the top and second link only told me to log on as an administrator and the third link was only an e-mail option. i opened the start tab and clicked on computer. the disk that came w/ the pinter was in, and the computer window showed a tab for the disk, i right clicked it and clicked on run as administrator. it opened the installization steps and it had the same problem as before. it couldn't install because i don't have privaleges.

While waiting to hear from other tech forums, i figured i would try to see if windows xp would recognize the sata drive and sure enough it did, but I don't want to use xp i want to use vista. foxconn told me that the sata driver is already included in vista. so what is the issue??

Contact your Computer Manufacturer and ask them if you can buy a 32bit Vista Operating System Disk/Licence from them. Going from 64bit to 32bit has to be done by a clean install with a FULL Vista 32bit Version Operating System. Cheers.

How to obtain Vista recovery Media and/or use the Vista Recovery Partition on your computer .
There is no legal free Vista download available. Contact your Computer Manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of Vista Recovery disk/s for the originall install.
They normally do that for a small $ cost.
