Oh, I did want you to note that I've already run Scannow and Check Disk. I did that at someone else's suggestion--on reboot from the Check Disk, I did have working audio--until I hibernated. Then I lacked sound and got a BSOD. I cannot check my audio drivers at the moment because they currently don't exist. Until I fix the audio driver again, sound doesn't even appear on the my device list.

Thanks bzkn After upgrading to windows7 I encountered the same problem. I tried several options on the net but it didnt work. The suggestion you gave worked very well. I uninstalled the driver, checkmarked delete the driver and finally the action/scan for hardware changes recognised and found a generic sound driver. Thanks for your help. cheers

I have been trying for a week to solve this printer problem, and nothing that I do seems to do any good.
