Do you regret taking so long to pay off your student loans? If you had to do it over again, would you pay them off early or would you take the twenty year payment? Well, just to be clear, I'm including: Being in college 4 years Deferring a year after I got out (no good job) Paying for 4 years Deferring for 2 years while back in grad school Paying for 10 years since It was only during this past 10 year stretch that I could have paid...

So,?by the time they are 18 and I have contributed 85k?and the account earns 12% ($10,200)=95,200 would be available for college.? Now, say my daughter uses 45k and their is 50, 200 left and she wants to use that to buy a house....I would pay no taxes on the withdrawal of that money?? Is that right, too good to be true? Will I have to pay taxes on the 50,200 as this would be for a non qualified expense? At my tax rate? ? Withdrawals are not...

It looks like my post was eaten. To those that believe that we are not affecting the environment, I wish to provide some facts. Makind has historically been changing the envorionment we live in and it has been documnented in history books and other references, mostly science related journals. How can anyone say we aren't changing the ecology of the planet by destroying? parts of that ecology almost every day. Examples- The Dodo bird was...

black, gray, pin stripe, some shade of brown, and a dark charcoal ? Black, gray and?charcoal?? Why not just black, black and black.? There really isn't a huge difference here.? And what color is that pin stripe - probably a stripe on black or stripe on navy?? You really know variety! ? Mix it up, man - throw in an olive or something.?

Check out TKTS. I wouldn't. ? 1. Their tickets aren't half-priced. 2. The have a huge board out front that keeps an up-to-the-minute listing of what shows they have tickets for.... they don't have tickets for those shows. 3. You have to pay in cash 4. You have to wait 4 - 6 hours to get anything. ? TKTS was a pretty good deal at one time.? Now I think it's one of the city's biggest tourist rip-offs.

Scientists tend to find what the want to find And someone who has?a vested interest in getting you to read his articles, buy his books, watch his shows,?etc doesn't? ? I will not disagree with you, that does happen, however that doesn't the other side more credible.? They have just as much of an agenda and interest in finding and presenting only the things that will benefit them.

Here are some new vocabulary words for you:? Filene's Basement, Burlington Coat Factory, Marshall's, Daffy's, Century 21. If any of these chains are in your area, you should be able to buy basic businesswear for a song.? Fie on business casual.? Why do bosses think up a third wardrobe for you to buy? I have almost been in that same spot! Was expecting 10 and found at the last minute there were 25!!!!!! At that point, customizing the menu to fit everyone's dietary preferences includes asking everyone which dish they like best from the local Chinese takeout.? ? Good! Cuz I was thinking you were MEAN!!!! Well, I am mean, but this time it was at the OP's request.?

"Sillymommie" (aside from the snide comment) you obviously haven't been reading what I said. I don't like to have the same thing over and over again. And I already stated that most of the veggies I like can't be frozen (no broccoli or Brussels sprouts). Personally, I don't mind frozen veggies--organic edamame or lima beans... yummm! --but I don't do dinner rolls or bread.? I'm not anti-carb or...

Take the short commute bro. Driving that far every day will cost the same as the higher rent when considering xtra gas and wear on your vehicle. Not to mention an xtra hour or so of free time each day.

If you speak the truth.....this is huge IMHO. Supposedly there was a lot of "smart money" invested with these folks.....so much for that theory.

I've had that happen with a few, too. Over the past year, 3 or 4 that I've had forever but haven't used in years have closed the account. Shrug. I tend to just use one and pay it all every month as well. Just in case, I've started trying to alternate between 2 of the best rewards cards so if one gets some draconian policies, I have at least one other option already set. I don't know how ...

I'm kind of hesitant to write it, but financially I'm doing quite well. I'm earning more than I ever have, finally paid off my student loans that I had for 22 years (two degrees), my rent hasn't gone up in five years, and RE prices seem to be heading down so that it might finally make sense for me to buy next year. ( knock on wood!)

fitqueen - Target will probably have what you want in limited quantities. Camp out if you want, but unless it was a real bargain, say 50% and the item is very expensive, I wouldn't do that for all the tea in China. Please remember last year what happened at a Wallmart on " Black Friday". A customer was trampled to death looking for bargains. When the shopping frenzy gets going, be careful.

I'm not the parent you describe (I haven't paid for a kid to go to an expensive school and then leave the workforce), but to the extent you're looking at "costly" schools (and not just secondary education generally), two quick thoughts: (1) many individuals meet their mates in college or through college friends/connections, so the "investment" may be in the spouse, not the education itself (ha...

I agree with everyone that says "GET OVER MANIPULATING ME!" as the hostess. if there is a medically diagnosed allergy, I will accomodate. But if you are a vegetarian, bring a vegetarian dish. And eat the salad, veggies or mashed potatoes. Dont' want dark meat? Don't eat it. Your kid needs a pasta dish at every meal. Well while you are cooking the nights pasta, put some aside to bring to my...

does anyone else think that there is a correlation between fast food and poverty? Yes, but I think lack of education and probably lower intelligence levels are also part of the puzzle. It's incredibly un-PC, but laziness also plays a role. The same person who is too lazy to grocery shop and prepare a meal might also have a lower paying job due to those same lazy behaviours.

Most situations are in a gray area and everyone's situation is different. An advice column is for a general purpose and not directed at everyone evenly. To address your points directly: 1) "junker" is a relative term. recommending a junker is for shock value but the point is obvious. A $30k new car with a $500/month payment is not realistic for many people. 2) advising someone to invest ...

"ruining my peace of mind. How much is that worth?" Only you know the answer to that. Divorces are one of the most traumatic times of your life. I hate to advise you to withdraw from your retirement, but if you don't have your sanity and you can't sleep at night then you don't have *anything*.

Legislation must address "the impossible demands" of pre-funding future retiree health benefits at current levels of more than $5 billion annually, Potter said. Hmmm. This probably won't make me very popular but I don't think they have anything to protest about. They have every RIGHT to protest, but I do not agree with their cause. I spent many years in college (graduate and post-graduate) and currently am employed by a university. While it is an "institution of higher learning" it is not a RIGHT to attend. It is a business, among other things. ...
