Do you think Volvo, the safety...

After a contact with Volvo it seems like the 30 miles actually is correct (=50 kms) so I have to pull back my previous comment. It just seemed like 30 miles was sort of low but I am not in the car business and an apology from my side may therefore be relevant.

Volvo can be the leader - in any system they choose - and in my opinion they always have been.? My '63 Volvo 544 has a half million miles on it and still gets 31 miles per gallon of gas!? I always have to laugh when domestic auto makers brag about approaching or reaching the 30 mpg range, having enjoyed such efficiency for the past 45 years from my Volvo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Assuming the mileage data in the article is correct; I am not to thrilled that it only gets 30 miles on a full charge but to get 100 MPG on the diesel (100Km on 2 liters) WOW. Sign me up now! I want this car yesterday.

I don't understand the position of the American public in regards to Diesels. This new Volvo seems to address?any problems with Diesel technology.? Diesel by its very nature is far more efficient than the equivalent gas engine.? Unfortunately its will not be received well with a diesel engine here in the US.? The other question that comes to mind is the fact the parent company Ford is trying to sell Volvo and this means that Volvo might...

Sounds like a great car to me. Although, I'm?partial to Plug-ins and any clean energy fuel. QUESTION: Will this vehicle run on BIODIESEL??? If it can run on Biodiesel that would make this car even More Attractive!

Volvo Electric Diesel Hybrid - Sign me up, I want to be a U.S. prototype test consumer.? If it has all wheel drive and traction control, then all the better.

I feel that the combination of a turbo diesel and a plug in battery pack would be? an outstanding addition to any Car line and? would have a definite appeal in the US market.

I think they should push the diesel in the US too, especially if it can take bio diesel too . It will be great to get to a point of plug in cars and tell the foreign oil producers thanks but no thanks to their oil. ? It is a disgrace that we have been promised this technology since Jimmy Carter's Presidency and are only now getting close to it. Politicians, it has?been 35 years.

Why Hell Yeh! ? What else do we have to look forward to?? Motorcycles aren't the answer to the energy drought.? TESALA has a hot little electra coupe ($103K) and a soon to be 4dr sport sedan that gets closer to the average consumer's affordability ($53K).? Now if battery technology can defeat the weight vs. energy capacity dilemma, we will really have something on the horizon to look forward to.

Straight up garbage! Of course the green crowd's goal is to get rid of personal mobility for all but the wealthiest few. When an electric car can carry a 200 lb tool box 80 miles and return without being recharged it might be for me,until then I'll stick to my 4 cylinder truck. One thing the press has ignored is the fact that Australia kicked Cap and Trade to the curb and has been working hard on developing it's own energy...

The problem is not weight or space on the vehicle. It's how much drag do they create. Most electric vehicles are designed with the least amount of drag possible.
