Just read the e-mail myself. It does look pretty ninja, but whether it's really that good I don't know. I'll keep it on my 'possibles' list for now. It's probably worth keeping an eye on the Dragondoor forum to see what the locals make of it.

Afternoon all.
Another marathon question for our Everyday Experts magazine feature.
Is it possible to train for a marathon using just a treadmill?
No because your feet and shins need to toughen up and treadmills just don't do that.

I think it gets to a point where the weights can only do so much. I'm going in for a tri next year, but only sprint distances, I'm not made for much longer distances!
I'd suggest possibly trying some hill running / walking to get your calves and hamstrings as flexible as possible.
However, if your bum pain is sciatic, then possibly consult a decent spots physio before bringing on any ...

IMO you'd be better of sticking to the compound lifts you mention and building some muscle mass. Your body fat will then likely drop and you can attack your fitness levels later on once the foundation of muscle is there. You can do plenty in a year if you make the effort

Personally I'd steer clear of the Boxercise class - it indicates to me that it will be an aerobics class based around boxing predominantly for girls. I wouldn't go and I AM a girl!

Naaaaaaaaaaaaaah, we all have those days.
You should try not to look upon it as failure, rather a compromise; if you made a regular thing of it your compromising skills should be brought into question haha

To tell the truth I hate performing most forms of cardio I just get on and do it. What I would say is that I feel the best after a good run.

Yeah cos kettlebells aren't weights.
Put your FBs on the muscle forum to see if that's actually gonna take you anywhere, and are you male or female? 8k is pretty light for a fella.
Read the whole kettlebells sticky at the top of this forum, thrice, and read the Mahler ebook I posted on the last page. It mostly calls for double kettlebell work, but read through the different programs and ...

Running is fine early mornings....in fact a lot of people find it's better as it sets you up for the day. It's definately not bad for you and as you've said you're struggling to fit workouts in so it's going to be better than doing nothing (which obviously in the long term, isn't good for you).
Personally all I can think of when I get up is breakfast, then maybe a run afterwards.
