Everyone shakes to some degree when they begin standing QiGong, so please don't worry too much about it. Your teacher should have been more supportive and helpful, imo. It is nothing to do with nutrition. When you align the body in this way (which is totally different to usual posture) it is hard work, especially on the legs. The important thing is not to obsess (sp) about the ...

Hi Everyone, I'm currently living in Toronto Ontario and have been practicing Yang style tai chi for about a 2 years on and off. I find that it's a great stress reliever but my memory is getting a bit rusty and sometimes I get confused with the one or two moves. I was wondering if anyone new of a decent teacher in Yang style that they could suggest in the Toronto area. I'd also ...

This has reared it's ugly head again recently.. So I wondered what the enlightened IMA Mappers definition of Peng is. What is it? How would you expain/define it?

Hey all. I'm the new guy. To start with, I've been a "practicing" Taoist for 11 years now, so I've done some breathing and stationary Chi exercises and Qi Gong, I even recently tried some Falun Gong stuff but couldn't really jibe with the philosophy. Two summers ago I was in China for about three months teaching where I joined a local early morning Tai Chi group. It was pretty much ...

Tian Yin Jia (fourth generation master, son of Tian Zhao Lin - who was the adopted son of Yang Jian Hou - who was son of Yang Lu Chan ) died today aged 77 in the early hours after a long term illness with lung cancer. A sad day for his family and every TaiJiQuan student whose paths crossed with this remarkable and unassuming man.

I used to train at a school where we used the PRC-standardized Yang forms (the 24-posture form, which is all I learned, and also some variety of long form). Now I'm training at a school where we primarily work off of the Chen Manching 37-posture form. Obviously the sequence of movements is different, but should I be aware of any stylistic or body mechanics differences? In other words, ...

I have been studying QiQong on and off for the 10 years and have recently gotten interested in Taoist QiQong specifically, not for religion purpose, but for body and mind. Would studying Tai Chi be beneficial along with QiQong or separate even though Tai Chi has QiQong studies in it. I do not know to much about Tai Chi.

I suppose your teacher is whoever you are currently using as your primary means of instruction, or the last person you received instruction from if you are currently not continuing lessons, regardless of an exchange of currency. Is this question in regards to lineage? I noticed someone saying something about how if you learn from a teacher of a specific lineage the founder of that lineage ...
