Hello, When you have your arm locked in a paint brush hold with your opponent mounted on you ready to break it, is there a way to escape or at least to get some delay ? Thank you ! I really really hate this move !

I'm not a BJJ practitioner but am currently interested in it. However, I like to train in MAs with a practical SD syllabus. Seeing as BJJ is very much sports oriented, does this mean they have no SD syllabus?

Just wondering if anyone can recommend any decent knee pads? I wear shorts when grappling and keep getting bangs to them,no matter how hard I try and avoid it. Don't want to spend a fortune on them but want a decent pair. Any recommendations? Thanks

check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1IRkkOxoho it's easier then it looks. after the duck under people expect hooks or a takedown, and when they pre-emptively defend those they practically gift wrap the triangle for you. just thought I'd share.

I have a 6 year old that currently studies Tae Kwon Do and Wrestling. He now wants to start BJJ at one of the Ralph Gracie schools. Is 6 years old too young? The kids program are for ages 5-12. He was introduced to the whole Jiu Jitsu thing through Sports Jiu Jitsu which is taught by his Tae Kwon Do school but it is not offered very often and usually to upper Tae Kown Do ranks. He will soon...

I have just started BJJ, here in D.C. at Lloyd Irvin's school. Well, technically I start monday, but anyway I have been training myself at home till that happens. I went in Thursday, got the tour, sat in for a class and such. Then Brandon "The Truth," Vera walked in. That was pretty sick since i'm admirent of him. Big fan. Anyway I'm just stretching, doing basic movements and such at home....

Hi all, I've just started BJJ and I'm loving it, although it's really tiring even though I'm fairly fit (3 nights kickboxing, 2 nights gym). I train at a Gracie Barra club in Derby and so far I have been submitted by everyone including a 15 year old girl (although it turns out she won gold medal in her category at the world championships!). I currently also do kickboxing and I did ...
