adouglasmhor (is there a short name we can call you by? 'a' seems a little vague and possibly rude! ): I would only actually recommend Smith Machines for people with lifting experience to supplement their free weights routine. Yohan, Frodo etc, I would say that, again due to adaptation (which effects sets, reps and choice of exercise, not just weights moved) a properly periodized full-body routine with varying reps and...

YEs your right I am trying to gain some weight right now. LEt me clarify on the diet, you need less to burn more calories than you consume. I'm not that clued up on nutrition but I think if you take something similar to my diet and reduce the quantity so your eating maybe 1800 calories a day you will loose weight and improve your body compisition.

Hi everyone. I really need to shift a few stone. I've returned to Kung Fu after many years off and in that time I have ballooned. I'm 22 stone and 6'2 and need to get down to about 15 or 16 stone. I realise I need to stick to a diet and a training regime but I haven't a clue what to do. Or to be more precise what will be the most effective way of losing weight. I know it's a case of ...

Hi guys. I'm going to train some iron body training. And to do it safe, I've heard that it is smart to start with some small sandbags or bags filled with hard beans. I do not got any of that, but I was wondering if it is ok for me to use my 1kg x 2 ankle weights (wich are filles with sand) ?????

Hi there, This post is regarding a question i have on how to use your natural growth (as a teen) to its full potential... A bit about myself (this may help you answer my question): I am 18 years old and I was training in the gym 2 times a week and practicing Kung Fu once a week all of last year. During that year i made quite significant gains in strength and lost a lot of excess fat ...

Put bluntly ive spent my life sat on my butt either on the playstation or watching tv. It's a good life up till one day i decided i wanted to join the Territorials and I have no chance what so ever of passing the entrance fitness exam. Im okay with the push ups and sit ups but apparently i need to reach just over level 10 in the bleep test. I know the most obvious way is jogging and running and I...

Are weighted sit-ups a good idea? The potential benefits seem obvious but I've heard that they can be bad for the lower back. Is it safer to just do decline sit-ups instead when i want to add more intensity to my normal sit-ups?

This topic could go in 2 places really, it could go in the routine critique section I suppose.... but, I'm also asking for kinda noobish advice so I threw it in here. Ok here's the scoop, I'm 5' 8" and weigh 130lbs [17 yrs old, male]. I'm skinny already but, have little muscle tone and a little fat left on my stomach that i'd like to be rid of. Basically, I want to be more toned without being ...
