I think it's a commentary on the generic "see what works for you" advice that's given -- without the guidance on how to do the homework. Kind of like the "all martial arts are good" advice given so often here... It's true -- all martial arts are good. But that doesn't mean that every school is, and that's why that advice needs to be qualified, too.

In your opinion what is the best option for a 1911 in the 1k range? We all have different experiences, and opinions. I'd like to hear yours and the why's. Thanks in advance!

I've seen the Taurus 1911's for in the $500-$600 range. A quick google search shows them around the mid 500's to low 600's. Which isn't bad considering they're essentially a Springfield Armory 1911 (if I remember correctly, IMBEL makes the Taurus, as well as the SA's).

One can get a lot of gun for 1K. Lots of possibilities. So...if it were me...I'd first ask myself how long I'd be keeping the gun. Is this something that I know I will love and have in my collection for years? Or is it something that I'm going to try for awhile and trade in later? If the latter, I'd buy used and keep the gun as close to stock as possible in order to get as much value as I can at trade time. If the...

Interesting article -- and some valid points. But I do think that, once you've identified your mission (is it a duty gun for a cop, a concealed weapon for a detective or civilian CCW carry, or a home defense tool, or what?), determined what guns fit that mission criteria, and with some basic handgun familiarity, it's a good idea to see how several different guns fit you. There are enough ...

What fits your hand and shooting style and shoots nice? Do you like a standard bbl length or prefer something shorter? Or longer? Do you want an extended bbl with porting? Do you want dovetailing, accessory rails, mag welling, etc.? What kind of finish do you want? Park, blue, hard chrome, some sort of duracoat/alumahyde? Do you want trigger jobs, or other wiz bangies? Is this going to be ...

It's a neat web site. I remember, ages ago, when they first started their "real world" tests with an eye to see what actual penetration through drywall actually was; testing out all the myths and granny wisdom about which rounds will penetrate and which won't.
They do good work.

A person won't face criminal charges when the landlord doesn't post signs, so this should be obvious upon touring the apartment.
In addition, every potential tenant should read and understand the potential landlord's lease terms before putting money down on the apartment and signing the lease.
I don't agree with the AG's decision, but I don't see why this would stop anyone from finding an ...

Nice preview. I use the "reload without retention version 2" (using the fresh mag to knock out the old one).
When does this video come out?

Would be nice, but the damage and financial waste is already done. The other problem, history has proved that should the gun registry be removed they will still find a way too screw things up. What will happen too all the records I'm sure there will be scandal when its given too the wrong people. A friend of mine brought up the subject and stated that if the registry goes the Government will just...

Even better advice is identifying your target before putting rounds downrange. That's why a flashlight is vitally important.
