Interestingly, Jon Stewart displays a nuanced view of global warming here. In an interview with Al Gore. He does it again with Steve Levitt, one of the co-authors of Super Freakonomics here. This is almost precisely my view, except I have become more skeptical of the science as of late. I like cheap solutions and I understand the degree to which we will need to change (not just separating plastic from cardboard, as Stewart says).

probably should have mentioned some recent events which raise the stakes dramatically, such as recent cap/trade legislation here and abroad, and the seemingly flat temperatures since 1998/2000.

Thanks David and Patrick. I'm in and looking forward to it. Fantasy leagues always test my loyalties. I listed myself as an Arsenal fan but picked no Arsenal players. The one player I didn't pick that really hurt (as a fan) was Essien from Chelsea. He strikes me as one of those players whose full value cannot be reflected in a fantasy league. You are probably right, in part. In the shorter run there will be value in the equity markets (the next year or so, after the sell-ff has finished - which it hasn't), over the next 5 or so years I think gold and commodities have a better chance of doing real well.
