Hi, Let's proceed, First, P2P software. IMPORTANT: I notice there are signs of one or more P2P (Peer to Peer) File Sharing Programs on your computer. Quote: LimeWire 4.18.8 Please read the Guidelines for P2P Programs where we explain why it's not a good idea to have them. Even if you are using a "safe" P2P program, it is only the program that is safe. You will be sharing files from uncertified sources, and these are...

Hi thyroidnos, It was a newer variant of the TDSS rootkit. The security folks will learn to kill one and the bad guys come up with another. Kind of a vicious circle. You had a rogue antispyware program, it probably came with that. I noticed you have had LimeWire and Bitcomet installed in the past. I do not know how it got on your computer but it is possible that it had something to do with use of P2P programs (LimeWire and Bitcomet). I would...

Hi. Quote: I made a mistake in my last post. The popup windows were from the Anitvir antivirus program. It happened again while working on the OTM portion of your instructions. The popup referenced Crypt.PEPM.Gen trojan, but I couldn't copy all of the information before the popup disappeared. This may be actually what is known as a false positive on behalf of Avira AntiVir. Though I will investigate further. Quote: I'm considering...

Very odd indeed. So at this stage you appear to have no problems? Is that correct? And the CA upgrade was from the official site? If you have no noticeable problems, it might be well worth it to run an online scan, just to make sure nothing is hiding. Kaspersky Online Scan Do an online scan with >Kaspersky Online Scanner< Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button It will start downloading and...
