I am going to assume this is an MSDN copy, as we do not condone, or support pirated copies of software here.

Hi Glenn When you have unzipped JavaRa, click to open it and then click Remove Older Versions, then install the updated Java version from Majorgeeks as it will save you hunting through the options at SUN.

no clue about Vista, but XP's so-called firewall does next to nothing to keep you really safe. if she never, ever, ever goes anywhere, except to get recipes (like recipezaar or allrecipes), and doesn't get any spam, then she MIGHT be okay. as financially challenged as i am, the one thing i didn't skimp on was a security suite. my KIS 2010 was $59.95 for a 1 year license for 1 pc (Kaspersky's site only has them for 3...

Yes, the hexadecimal entries are important: they're Windows' way of trying to tell you what's wrong with the machine... Adrynalyne has written an extensive tutorial about how to decipher these mini-dumps: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35246 ...read through it, and follow the steps, but be advised: it may take a while... In the meantime, post a quick snapshot of the blue screen here, and maybe we can pick up on...

Neither CCleaner nor Auslogics Disk Defrag are security applications. So they are not relevant. SAS Free and MalwareBytes Free and SpywareBlaster have no real-time protection so again they are not relevant. The first two of these are for stand alone back up scanning and should be retained and kept up to date. SpywareBlaster has useful browser-based protection. The only program in that list ...

G'day. You could try a repair from your XP CD (put it in and select Repair option - I think you should be able to do that). Keep in mind that this might actually be a hardware problem, or some unrelated software problem that has coincidentally raised its ugly head just when you ran Combofix. Think about connections, RAM, etc. Maybe install the HDD as a slave (in another PC, or in your ...

Greetings, uzi451... Are the "####"'s in your post made by you, or are they what are actually showing up on the blue screen? Also, do you have your XP disk available? If so, are you able to boot to the disk? One more question: have you made sure your machine is malware-free?

I already did the "config" in the location bar, and reset the printers like ...

Hi. I have moved your post to it's own thread. It's always better to start your own. You will have to be specific. What operating system (XP, Vista, etc.)? Does it happen with other browsers (Internet Explorer)? Have you tried reinstalling Firefox?

Upgrade? On a laptop? Is that ever worth it? Computer store charges like 90 bucks an hour. Any attempt to tweak the RAM after market will cost me WAY more than buying a fancier machine in the first place. We're talking about the sub-$200 range, after all! And, no, I'm not qualified to do it myself. I might attempt it on the OLD pc, but I'm certainly not going to learn by busting ...
