I read something similar on a different Mac forum The macosxhints Forums - For discussing everything OS X... . The answer was, I seem to recall, that the Apple DVD Player app would not play a dvd from an external source, something to do with the necessity of a direct IDE connection. I wish I could be more specific, but it was well over a year ago. The solution, as I recall, was to use VLC Player. I know from experience that if does work, but...

toole13: Download the free ntfsMounter application. Snow Leopard has the ability to read and write to NTFS drives but it's not turned on by default. The program I recommended will turn it on for you. Regards.

If the TC is new then it is probably one of the Dual antenna units so why not use that for the wireless then you can have the newer units on 802.11n and the older on 802.11g. Also would allow bonjour iChat IM which i think is the quickest way of sending files and links from unit to unit. Then again with Kids on the scene may not be a good idea.

And if you are attempting to boot from your install DVD, G4's, including the eMac, require Firewire connection to the external HDD as USB, even USB2, is just not fast enough.

to Hughvane: I have Standard, Formatting and Drawing. to toMACsh: I know it's in the wrong forum but couldn't seem to change it via Edit. Not even cancel or delete the post and rewrite. to ALL: I figured it out. When you zoom to 125% or 150% it seems that the headers get inordinately bigger than the font size default (in my case 12 pt). Especially at 150%. The font stays the same size (relatively speaking) when zoom in but the header...

Monitor settings

I was responding to your previous statement that sometimes it starts up with the "wrong" monitor resolutions. I just meant that, once you set the resolutions, they should stay that way until you change them yourself, in the manner suggested by bobtomay . They should not change on their own when you restart. If that is happening, something is wrong.

This may be the first time I've recommended this in 3 years, but: If you've gotten the system so messed up it won't even boot to your desktop and this is a brand new machine with no worry about losing data, I'd suggest you get out the install discs that came with the machine, pop in the first disc, reboot while holding down the 'C' key, do a fresh install and start over again. Then ...

Fixed it -- for anyone else that had this problem, all I had to do was check for updates and there was one there for the "aluminum keyboard" I didn't check that first and should have but I had just updated the computer recently - I guess the operating system doesn't look for that update until you add the keyboard.

Just curious as to why you would want to? The MBA is a pitifully slow machine in comparison to the iMac and I don't know if it could even graphically power the iMac. Just transfer all your files via Migration assistant or if you want a clean new iMac, open the MBA and share files via bluetooth/sharing.

Strictly speaking, this is a software or applications issue, so you may find it moved. I cannot find Font via the pathway you've outlined, nor R1C1 in Prefs. Headers should be dealt with via Page Setup > Header/Footer > Customize, wherein you can set font and size using the instructions provided.

Dont like the new mouse ATM... With my big hands find it hard to grasp and do a right or left two finger swipe without the whole mouse moving on me, and then if it gets a little warm, like where i live, i find my fingers grab it as i swipe being my fingers with that bit of sweat moister on them that you get in warm climates .... Not for me Cheers

It's not a question of "if" it will happen, it's a question of when it will happen. Honestly, I wish no retailer would let a computer buyer walk out of the store without an external hard drive that is equal to or greater than the size of their internal drive. There was a time when backing up was tedious and expensive. Today, there is no excuse.

I wouldn't buy a Netgear anything. Way too many horror stories there. Yes, any 802.11 device will work just fine. My recommendation would be a D-Link DIR-655.
