I think I've narrowed it down to either the Canon 50D or the Nikon D90. Any advice? To RayLee: I'm planning on shooting mostly landscape/close range, not a whole lot of sports or portraits, and size/weight is no issue because I've been lugging around a 35mm for a while.

New holiday flyer, opinions?
Published (2009-11-28 00:30:00)
Seems interesting although I wonder if you really need all that background? Especially when all your information is crammed into that little tag. Where the string goes through the red circle...shouldn't that be the same color as the background and not stark white? I would also reconsider some of the color choices for your ornaments, just for consistency. Some of the colors kind of come out of no where...if you are going for that muted...

New Lens! Suggestions?
Published (2009-11-28 20:54:00)
You already have a midrange zoom. So if I were you I'd be looking for extending my optical range one way or the other. I have the 10-22mm Canon zoom an can attest to its quality. It's not a fisheye, but the wide angle is spectacular. I also have the 70-300 DO and it really is a champ for carrying around and getting close to your subject. I like its compact size.

Hi there, thanks for the reply! I need to work on layouts and be able to save for print or web.. Any suggestions to get me through till the new year? I had already downloaded the Illustrator 30 day and it is now expired I know I have to buy it but it's just not an option at the moment. I just downloaded Inkscape.. I'm not familiar with it but I'll give it a try. Thanks so much!

I've recommended this site before...I'm not a photographer so it sounds good to me, but I've had someone tell me Ken Rockwell didn't know what he was talking about. Alas he wouldn't explain why so I'm going to share the link again...it sounds well thought out to me. Native version of GIMP coming?
Published (2009-11-22 22:03:00)
So, us GIMP users are not "cheaping out." We are just using software which works fine for us and doesn't cost us. The operating system is where the polish is most important, and OS X offers better polish than any OS available (and I have used Win 98, XP, Vista, a drop of 7, Ubuntu, gOS, Puppy Linux, drop of Xubuntu, drop of DSL, a drop of Slax, and maybe another OS besides that other than Leopard). As long as you are...

I like your mark, however where the 2nd C and the W meet it looks very weird. I would resolved that. It looks like a mistake. If it's intentional you need to go for and make it obvious.

Thats a tough one to answer....
I have an SLR I use for work and depending on what I am shooting it could be great or a pain. The real "drawback" to SLR's is size and the amount of room you need to carry everything (Lens, converts, etc), the big plus is quality and the ability to adapt to anything. Price is also a major factor, the sky is really the limit. Sure you can get a 400mm ...
