Mac2Sell for his MBP - $1250-1300 (Mac2Sell does not have the 2.6 as an available selection, only the next version which was a 2.66) Mac2Sell for your MB - $900 You're gaining FW, the 8600M with 512MB and more screen real estate. Doubt you'll notice much of any difference between the 2 systems except for 3D gameplay. I'd verify he's got the 2.6 as that chip was only available as an upgrade option from the 2.5 to the top of...

Be careful keeping your MBP top lid closed while streaming iTunes music. The CPU is working fairly hard when playing music which will keep the temperature up. I recommend if you do use InsomniaX that you buy a notebook stand to place the machine on. That will allow better cooling and give you additional protection against nasty spills. Regards.

How often should I dust my Mac.
Published (2009-12-04 12:34:00)
I was wondering how often everyone cracks open their macbooks and blows the dust out. I'm a smoker and thought maybe I should think about doing this more often. I've had my MBP since July and have yet to do this. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

What does the crash report say? Even a non-tech type like me can often spot a clue as to what's happening by reading the report.

I always select USPS (US Postal Service) for about $15.00 (cheaper option) and get delivery here in about seven days and you city slickers types should get it in five to six.

ibook G4 Kernal Panic
On start up my ibook G4 chimes, the apple comes up and then Kernal Panic.
I don't have a start up disc but I did connect it to a MacBook Pro via firewiire and started it as Target. It didn't mount but the Hard Drive did show up in the ...

Can i move my HDD from my current MBP Nov 2006 model to new 13" MBP?
hey all,
I've decided to finally upgrade my aging MacBook Pro (Nov 2006 Intel 2.33Ghz Core 2 Duo) to a spanking new 13" MBP.
I have recently installed Snow Leopard from scratch on ...

Hello there!
It sounds like the 2.26 is going to be fine. You'll get marginally more power out of the 2.53, but nothing too noticeable. Make sure you max your RAM and you'll be fine. It's a great machine. Take care!

Check the older MBP - If it is a MacBookPro1,1 - then don't do it.
The MBP1,1 is 1st generation Intel Core Duo 2 - and will NOT support Snow Leopard in 64-bit mode.
It will also max out at 2GB RAM - period.
I am typing on one now, and I'll probibly be giving it to my daughter (7th grade) and get a newer MBP with the Core II Duo & 4GB RAM.

I don't think disassembling a laptop (or an iMac or Mini for that matter) without a good reason is a good idea.
Shut it down, vacuum the openings and keyboard, and blow canned air into the vents.
And don't smoke around your computer. Tobacco smoke contains a greasy tar that can't be blown out.

OSX. To me that is the only reason to purchase a Mac anything over a Windows machine.
You can upgrade the hard drive and RAM. Not the CPU though. FEW notebook computers have an upgradable CPU.

Where did you purchase the ram from?
I always recommend OWC (macsales.com)...and I remember your fellow countryman "Harryb2448" also says that OWC has great service to Australia.

Backup now !!!!
Get a new drive as soon as you can.
I've seen them run for a couple of years after that. I've seen them die never to be seen again the same day.
And no, that's not the kernel panic screen. That's the screen of no bootable system found.

Does it do this when you're actively using the computer (i.e. typing on the keyboard, moving your finger on the trackpad) or is the screen dimming when you haven't touched the computer for a few minutes?

I found that when my MBP started cranking up the Fans a peek in the activity monitor showed Mail causing a heavy demand on Processor hence fans. Never did find out why Mail did it, but quitting Mail and re opening sorted it until next time, which was very infrequent. Or if it continues resetting the SMC might be an option.

I tried both Fusion 3 and Parallels 5 and kept the latter. With the VM running I am glad I have 4gb of RAM. You will quickly noticed that 160gb HD will run out soon especially when you have to partition for Windows. If your running a VM you could just keep MS Office. Use the extra money for upgrades. Seems like you got a great deal with the itouch.
