I don't own the most recent iPod, but I did have a 5G iPod and a first-gen Classic, and a relative has the 5G still going strong (even though he's been rough on it) and my Classic has survived a couple of drops, one onto concrete. My iPhone 3G from last year is still going strong as well. So while I don't own the most recent classic, I've had no problem with the iPods. My first-gen iPhone did have a strip of the screen go...

Cant deauthorise for a year??
Published (2009-11-28 18:21:00)
Remembering to deauthorise a PC is not high on my agenda when I am concerned about ensuring I have all the data off it before wiping it. Its a crap method of preventing copying which is stupid because anyone who is pirating music will hardly buy the albums in the first place. On top of that all you have to do is burn the album to cd and rip it and hey presto you have drm free copy anyway

...I thought I'd put my weight behind it, too. I have a 800Mhz G4 I use to load my old iPods with music (the 1G and 2G, as my MacBook was the ONE that doesn't have firewire...) They work, as do a few of the newer ones, without a problem. I am running 10.4.11 though. On top of that, I did use that as my primary computer a couple years ago when the original iPhone came out - uploading via USB 1.1 took forever and was sometimes even...

DVDs use lossy compression (MPEG-2), Blu-Ray's also use lossy compression (typically MPEG-4). CDs are not compressed, they are raw 44.1/16 LPCM.

No changes at all, still the same great product. I think Genius Playlists may be new, but I don't use them ever so, whatever.
And I recommend it over the touch.

First things first: these are tagging issues that you caused, but can fix.
iTunes places things in albums based on the album artist. If the album is a soundtrack or various artist affair, then it will place the album in the Compilations folder. So a normal structure will be Artist > Album or Compilation > Album.
For multiple-artist albums, put "Various Artists" for the album artist and...

It's reported to be the same chip but take heart. You'll get bigger diffs in sound by changing the bit rate or upgrading your earphones (I recommend top of the line Shure or Westone 3 earphones) than one could notice in a blind test of the the old (5th generation) and the newer (6th and 7th generation) designs.

have you tried the fun stuff, like trying a different cable, port and computer?
Do you hear the mounting noise (if on win.)?
Again, if windows, does it show up as an unknown device in Device managaer in the control panel?
Try reinstalling iTunes.
Good Luck!

Nice way of making your point. Agree with you and Ravenvii.
I'm having trouble understanding English; I live in a non- English speaking country and I'm just not used to the variety of accents, slangs and sayings used in English.
Nevertheless, since I'm an avid consumer of TV Shows and have an TV, I'm purchasing content from iTunes to watch with my dad. You may imagine how many ...

Take it to Apple next time you are buying an ipod, I believe you'll get 10% or something like that off.

That will do the conversion directly, saving a few steps. And you will get the same results as ripping the CD at 256kbps AAC. Remember that AAC is itself a lossy codec, but you will not loose quality until you get to that point. (Use Apple Lossless instead of AAC is you want to keep CD-quality)

Do you mean a grey "!"?
If so that is iTunes saying it can't locate the original file.

Dead 60gb g4
My 60gb G4 iPod is apparently dead . last night it would not turn off. The screen stayed fully illuminated. I let the battery drain overnight and then plugged it in to recharge. You could offer to do some extra chores for your parents or neighbours to earn extra money to save up for all or some of the cost of the iPod Classic.
A Nano is a nice iPod, anyway, and if it gets lost or stolen, you're not losing a hugely expensive item.

You are using an external via usb? That might be the reason.
I had my library on a firewire based external and really didn't see an issue with it.
I have since moved it to another computer (ala sudo server). But when it was on the external it wasn't bad.
You say 700 gigs of content, what is the size and speed of the drive?
