I went ahead and downloaded it. You can watch a few shows right now. If they are able to expand this to include everything on Hulu it would be very cool. Watching last weeks episode of the office right now and quality is very good. Not sure if it requires Safari DL manager or not, but I do have that installed and had the option of viewing or downloading the file. Very light application. No harm in having it around!

Just plug it into iTunes, do a back up, do an update (or a restore if you prefer), then restore from back up (if you want)

Sounds like you picked the wrong activation option when you were making your custom firmware. Go back and do the reverse of what you did the first time -- if you had checked activate before, uncheck it, if you didn't check it, check it. Restoring from backup / setting up as new shouldn't affect whether or not your connection works.

I don't think Ultrasnow works on 3.1.2 unless you kept the old baseband. What baseband are you at? If you're at 5.11.7, you should use blackra1n & blacksn0w.

Uncheck "activate". Baseband doesn't matter since you are on AT&T. If activate was checked you will need to do it again.

The new 3GS can be jailbroken, but after jailbreaking it cannot boot without the help of a computer. This is because the new version of the boot loader can not yet be permanently hacked to disable the signature check on the OS. So you need to plug the phone in and rerun blackra1n each time your phone reboots just to get past the spinning Apple logo. This is called a tethered jailbreak and ...

The carrier file shouldn't disable visual voicemail by itself. I have installed the BenM carrier hack on my 3GS (unlocked with blacksn0w) and still get my visual voicemail fine. In case you didn't know, blacksn0w disables the signature check when installing .ipcc files so you can reenable tethering.
