Testing your site on IE and using MS Office 2007 will work just fine on either. Playing games, though, will have varying results. Keep in mind that both Parallels 5 and VMware 3 are limited to DirectX 9.0EX (9.0c) support, and don't support DX10 or 11 yet.

I'm sure that what you wan can be handled with GParted Live . Just make the partitions look like the old drive.
However like all partition operations, proceed at you own risk.

Hi Gerry,
You can install an upgrade version without any previous instances of windows on your HDD. Technically thatÂ’s not an issue.

I'm not as experienced with Fusion as I am with other VMWare products, but I've used the linux version of VMWare Workstation extensively. The thing you have to keep in mind is that Mac OSX is a bsd unix environment at its base. When you log in as a different user, you are restricted to the files you own or have group access to. Unless you run something as an admin (requiring your ...

There's nothing indicating you have an OS X to get back to.
Do you have a wired KB, wired mouse or Apple remote? There are sometimes issues with the Alt key if you only use a wireless KB. You can use the mouse or remote to pull up the boot selector, but the fact that you don't see it in control panel is unsettling to say the least.
I don't think SP2 is your problem because you ...

It's a shame that you spent all that money on a Macbook Pro to primarily run Windows 7. I think perhaps the main attraction of any Mac is OS X. That and the design.
And isn't Safari like the fastest browser when running Java script? I'd have a hard time believing that Windows 7 was any faster. What browser are you using?

What kind of processor is in your Mac Pro? Try downloading and running CPU-Z and post the model number of the processor.

There is no special Mac edition of windows. Plus they don't sell windows xp anymore, you need to purchase windows 7.
To run it on windows, you need to either run it in bootcamp, which is like running windows on any other computer. You need to reboot the computer, so you'll not have access to your OSX programs and such. The other option is to run windows in a virtual environment, either...

Let me qualify the post by saying I've just installed win7 this past week, but I had played with it during the beta/rc period as well.
I'm pretty much underwhelmed with win7. Yeah, its an improvement to vista but you can easily make the argument that windows 95 is an improvement to vista
Overall it seems to work ok, and the look/feel is fresh and modern but its still windows and...

32bit Windows 7 will only see 3.3gb of system RAM, while 64bit Windows 7 can see...a lot more then your machine can support!
Otherwise, there's no difference.

List of Windows 7 Drivers for Mac?
All,
I think it would be a good idea for people to post working and non-working drivers for Windows x64, and even x32. In this thread, so hopefully it becomes a sticky, and then moved to a guide. This way people don't need to search the infiniteness we call the Internet for days on end.

You only need the bootcamp partition if you have a reason to boot directly to Windows. I do it for playing games, since running a game in VMWare is mostly futile. There really isn't much other reason to have a bootcamp partition. I've noticed no speed difference running from the bootcamp partition compared to a virtualized image.
