In Windows, you can open up any .html file in notepad and you'll see the HTML code. What app on the mac can do that? I tried TextEdit, but it brought up a rich text page (links were actually blue, underlined links instead of <a href=> ). Word does the same. I know you can do Apple-U in Firefox to "View Page Source", but that won't let you edit it.

I've been running out of disc space on my MBP, so I downloaded the OmniDiskSweeper tool to see what was taking up so much space. It turns out that there's 47GB of "sparsebundle" files at 8MB apiece in the directory /Users/.zombieflanders/zombieflanders.sparsebundle /bands . A quick check on the intertubes seems to link the problem to either Time Machine or iDisk, neither of which I ...

I'm still pretty new to OS X, so forgive me for idiocy if this is the case here. I bought a new iMac just before Christmas '07. I'm running 10.5.4 and I've had virtually no problems since I got the computer. I went away for the weekend and found two new problems with my Mac when I returned. 1. Start up time is well over 5 minutes. 2. My SuperDrive no longer functions. ...

I am by far not computer savvy and I own a G4 running OS 10.3.9. I recently bought a new iPod nano for my daughters 9yr birthday. This was all she wanted for her birthday. As I tried to get this going my G4 would not accept the new device. I later found out I need to purchase a system upgrade in order to use the iPod. I can barely afford the iPod let alone the extra $129.00 to use it. ...

Basically, one day I tried to open preview and I got the above error "This application cannot work with this version of OS X". I didn't make any changes to my system, I didn't install any new programs, I didn't update OS X. I'm really at a loss for what caused this and it is annoying me greatly. Any ideas? Google turns up nothing and I haven't had any luck searching the forums...

I have a MacBook Air that I set up to connect to a shared drive on our university's network. I'm able to connect to it manually just fine after I've logged in, but I keep getting the following error every time I login: "Connection Failed: The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and your network connection and try again."...

I got my new iMac a few months ago after my very old OS 9 machine finally died. (So, Im an OS X newbie. ) The iMac is a standard 2.8 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 320 GB HD machine. Ive kept the OS up to date, so Im currently running 10.5.4. Increasingly, Ive been experiencing the spinning beachball, and increasingly, it stays spinning longer and longer, sometimes to the point of timing ...

I bought my mac a few months ago... i've got 75GB free space, 2.5GHz processor, 4GB of ram. Thought this would be a totally insane machine! The last few weeks it's running like a windows machine on 1GB of ram. What the? FireFox 3 is crap which I discovered from doing a but of searching.. I've also done other searches on why my mac is slow and most answers were not enough ram ...

I am having a debate with my CEO and he is claiming that MacOS is 1MB vs Windows which is 1GB. He says it was in Apples financials. I pointed out that windows xp pro is 1.5GB installed and Leopard is 6.5GB installed and he said the financial papers were talking about "pure code" without all the "stuff" Can anyone shed some light on what he is talking about? Is he talking about...

Hello everyone, I've just bought a new iMac 24" - and I'm enjoying my Leopard experience. My MB is however still running Tiger and I would like to have the full functionality of syncing all my notes and to-do's between them both. So - Any advice on buying Leopard and iLife for my MB now? or should I wait until Sept when there may be some updates on either app? I'm a student so...

So here's the deal. I just bought a WD 320gb external drive since the 120gb in my MBP wasn't going to cut it. I created two partitions on the external drive, one 120gb one set aside for Time Machine and the rest I set aside for all my extra space. Now, the trouble is, Time Machine seems to view my home folder as using up 178.11gb of space and is thus discluding it from the ...

Hello, MacRumors members, I recently encountered a problem with my new iMac and I really need some help, my OCD is getting to me. My problem is that the "Applications" folder is no longer listed under my Home folder. Somehow I deleted the shortcut to the Applications folder in my Home folder, and now I can only get it back by copying the items, which I don't find to be a helpful ...
