Yes, that's how updates work for most well-written software. In most cases, they don't affect your existing files at all, and newer versions can open files created by earlier versions.

There were at least two other people here in the last year or two describing exactly the same thing (including the techno-type music), and in both cases it turned out to be a Dashboard widget doing it, as BlueRevolution suggested. Remember that they can get pushed way to the edge of the screen to the point it's barely visible. An easy way to test is to see if, after rebooting the computer, the music ever comes on BEFORE you've...

Seems like a software issue. To be sure, can you connect a different keyboard and see if you get the same behavior? What OS do you have?

No. Repairing permissions just adjusts the files with the wrong permissions. You shouldn't need to do so often, but there is no harm in it.

Just drag whichever folder you want from your finder window (not the sidebar) to the right hand side of the dock.

Try Adium X. It's much better than Microsoft Messenger for Mac. It has more features than MSN for Mac.

Unfortunately the MLB is the main issue of many problems. You've had a replacement already so now I'd look into the PSU and then possibly replacing things like the CPU and RAM.
However, what troubles me is that after what appears to be three repairs you are willing to accept that there is an issue and willing to accept a fix but feel that your reseller is unqualified to make such ...

That message usually appears when there is a data on the disk that cannot be moved, thus preventing Boot Camp Assistant from shrinking your OS X partition. To resolve this issue you can either copy your data to another volume and restore it as the message instructs, or use a third-party utility such as iDefrag or Drive Genius to move your data to the beginning of the partition. No, you'd connect it to the audio in port on your MacBook Pro. Do you have a 13" model, or one of the larger models?
QuickTime or GarageBand should be able to record from line in.

The .dmg file is a "disk image" -- like a virtual CD. When you download and open a disk image for an app, you'll see either the app itself (which you should drag and drop to your Applications directory and then open from there) or an installer (the .mpkg file you see in this case). Double-click the .mpkg file to run the installer.

Yeah, usually you'd run ethernet cables through the walls. But why don't you just go for a wireless network? It would be much easier.

This is actually quite strange. I am highly doubting its a mac virus...if it is you have found one of very few. The only thing i can think it is is something he has downloaded that is opening at random. If the problem continues i would contact apple and tell them whats happening...."dont say its porn though " and explain the problem

If you still have Adobe Reader installed, right-click on a PDF file and select "Get Info". Find the option toward the bottom where you can change the default application, select Adobe Reader, and click "Change All".
See if that works.

I would suggest a power strip that includes an on/off button that you could put in a location that is accessible to you.

just a silly question im sure, but why!?!
why would you run a program that keeps your cpu at 100%,
small answer, yes it will shorten the MBP lifespan, and it will slow everything down, heat is bad, thats why computers come with fans, and even water based cooling, a cold computer wil always last longer and run faster then a portable room heater
