Few things... What's MurderMod? I mean, I looked at the link, but I don't see anything is an issue. Also, no, you can't make the MacBook Pro 13" matte, unless you send it to some 3rd party modifier who end up keeping the glass screen.

Save the money. With quadcore, usb3 etc around the corner you will not future proof it by going up to 3.06. You will just get a processor that is a little bit faster. Nothing else.

Save the money. With quadcore, usb3 etc around the corner you will not future proof it by going up to 3.06. You will just get a processor that is a little bit faster. Nothing else.

It's just 270MHz (~11%) so it's not really worth it. Rendering time in iMovie would be few seconds faster but for 300$ it's not worth it

Assuming it takes 20 hours to restore 78GB that's approximately 1 MB per second which does seem slow. Is the LaCie a USB drive?

Do you NEED a new computer? Is you current one enough for your needs? IMO there is no reason to buy new one for just having the newest and latest if you don't need it.
