Sell 2007 24", get 27"?

Problem with 24"s are that there are plenty of them on sale at eBay etc, and because Apple offers 24" for 1100$ in refurb store, prices for used ones are horrible as well. If it does its job well, I wouldn't sell it but if you're ready to pay the exchange, sure go for it

Mac buying advice needed
Published (2009-11-24 18:46:00)
I edit all of my movies in iMovie and it's painless. My 5400rpm drive is the ONLY bottleneck, so opting for a 7200rpm may patch that up. Really, the lowest-end MacBook Pro will suffice for iMovie, I don't know what software she wants to use but I'm ALWAYS confident that my MacBook Pro has the power necessary for all my needs.

A portable Mac would be fine for casual video editing. I recommend a 15" MacBook Pro. If the price is a bit much then the 13" would still be a fine choice.

i think a lot of people are in the same situation.
try to think of it like this. if you got an imac and in a year or so you run out of HDD space (possible as you are editing HD footage) you'll need externals. when you reach your limit of 8GB ram your a bit stuck. when you want a better screen (if one comes out that is, the imac ones are very nice)
you are just stuck with what you have....

IMO: Given the vocal complaints about their quality, the company is going to need to focus on quality to help market to the professional market.

here are my thoughts on why i bought a macbook instead of a pc laptop
pros:
looks - the laptops really set the standard in design and are very beautiful.
trackpad - the multitouch trackpad is amazing. i can't stress enough how much of a pleasure it is to use for web browsing, expose, zooming, etc.
cons:
price - getting a mac probably cost me 30% more than what ...

Had Macs for 19 years. Never needed a repair I couldn't do myself (example, hard drive replacement -- all hard drives will fail sooner or later).
Current: MacBook C2D refurb - perfect condition, no troubles.

While they likely will still be able to run it, the question is how well. Personally I'd wait if keeping it three years is a priority.

Not stupid at all. Its actually an excellent setup.
I have my 15in mbp on one of the rain stands and I have a magic mouse and apple wireless keyboard. I love the setup. When I go back to my living area I plug it into my cinema display and have the same setup (although different keyboard and mouse) back there.

Get a mac mini and use it with your existing monitor. Then you still have the netbook to haul around school.

I'd get the 15", it has the extra power, and it's still fairly easy to carry and move around.
Edit: didn't read past first post, sorry about the late post.
