Time Capsule Dead Power Supply -...

As we speak I am connected to my Time Capsule again and performing a time machine backup. In the end it cost me 20 bucks for a new power supply and about 80 bucks to get a bunch of tools I didn't have. Overall still much cheaper than a new Time Capsule and I get some new tools out of it. Always need an excuse to buy new tools. Thank you to everyone who helped. Special thanks to LaPastenague for his website and instructions. Last thing I...

Ok - I wont loop! I've hooked the burner up to 1 port, and the 2 hard drives to the other, daisied. I'll then probably use the spare port on the burner if I want to use the camera... (haven't had issues with this before myself)

Although Apple is supposed to have increased the speed to the hard disk in the new TC it probably is nothing more than an internal usb to sata converter. So a USB drive is no faster or slower than the internal drive in the TC. As a NAS it is slow because it is not direct ethernet to sata converter. Still with certain mods a TC can be made reliable... buy a second hand or refurbished one ... around $200 on ebay now... although I missed one that...

They would connect using DVI. Edit: The Apple TV only does 720p, it won't look great on a 24" monitor.

The guys from PCcasegear got hold of me today. There is more stock of SSD's coming next week but there seems to be a big shortage of 256 SSD's at the moment so they don't know if any of the stock will be there. They've offered a credit if it doesn't arrive next week but I'm holding out for another one. Its like a drug, once you've had it you can't go back.

Dual Monitors MBP
Published (2009-12-07 22:07:00)
USB video adaptors are absolute crap under OSX. The proper way -- that is, getting multiple displays to work without tearing, lagging and artifacting, as all USB-based video adaptors do -- is with a Matrox Dualhead2Go Digital ($435 from Streetwise), a dedicated hardware box that fools the Mac into seeing a matching pair of monitors (and by matched pair they must be exactly the same physical resolution) as one single, very wide monitor. No...

I have a Sony 40" W series as my home tv and sometimes connect my laptop up to use it to play tv shows/movies. I connect them together using a VGA connection and the quality is great for watching TV shows and movies. But it isn't sharp like a computer screen. Its sharp, don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the TV, but you can tell that it is a tv and not a computer scree because the ...

In my experience, most FW devices will daisy chain, whether devices in the middle are powered or not. However, despite whether it will work or not, I always use FW powered hubs rather than daisy chaining. I recommend it to all my clients as well. By providing additional power to the FW devices connected to the hub, it puts less stress on the FW port(s) of the computer and as FW ports sometimes ...

Ok, I used another USB cable from another printer and I have managed to get it online, BUT! When you install a printer in windows you get a desktop icon which opens up all the lovely things you can do with you scanner/printer etc. They always have software where you can manipulate your scanning etc. When I install a Printer on the mac, there appears to be no desktop icon? Do I always have...

I have a brother HL-4050 CDN that does duplex printing automatically once set to long page binding. but there are others that work quite well. for ease of installation look for printers that have the drivers included with the system already. although if you get similar to this depending on what you do with it you may need to install extra memory. Although the samsung seems decent print quality...

Is the external drive formatted for use with the Mac and is HFS Extended (Journaled)? (You can check this inside Disk Utility). Have you used the drive for Time Machine successfully before? If so, there is a strong possibility that the Time Machine archive has become corrupt, and will need deletion and you'll have to start over again. There is also a possibility that there are some ...
