Boot from the Leopard Install DVD
Go to Utilities,
Disk Utility
Create a new disk image from disk with the 'disk from' being your HD. This will clone the disk into an expandable disk image onto your external HD that is slightly compressed (for space!) You can also use this image to restore if necessary.
Voila!

What does crash.log say?
Kern Protection Failure can usually just be a corrupt system framework.
Check Console and if you see anything related to .framework reinstall the OS, and use direct
download updates instead of software update

Hi All
This has been bugging me for awhile.
When reading the smh online, whenever there is a video clip of something and I click on the play button. The in-browser video screen stays
black.
What's up?
TIA

If you are looking at upgrading from Bento 1 or 2, note that you can get $25 immediate reduction if you
buy direct from FileMaker. Haven't seen anything about the upgrade offer on the Apple Store, although there did look like a cash back scheme available via form on the US Apple Store site.
Sorry MacTalk, might not be able to use your link to buy this!

Make certain your system is compatible.
i.e., I run VLC 0.9.9 Grishenko PPC on my Tiger iMac
and
VLC 1.0.2
Golden Eye on my Intel Mac Mini
When you download the dmg there are uninstall instructions for the app you have installed.
Hope this helps.

Acrobat - Preferences - Units and Guides (right at the bottom of the list) set it to
millimetres. I've never used the other setting you describe so I can't say whether it works or not.

Evidently, it's the same thing that's wrong with *my* setup.
I'm seeing the same thing here. Who knows what those kindly folks have done. Maybe someone here who's a
web designer can look at this and figure out what's causing it.
Then again, *most* of the time I use Firefox, not Safari.

Well, according to a recent story on
Macrumors, SL has NTFS Write support built in, but by default it's disabled and you need to do some hack using the UUID of the drive you want to write to. Some people seemed to have varied success, which is perhaps why Apple haven't enabled it completely. Hopefully (fingers xd) it will get switched on properly in some future update.
