I'm the last person to argue against putting Adobe up against the nearest available wall.

See, I'm 99% sure that the G5s with iSight use a different screen than the other revs. I thought there was a thread that mentioned this not too long ago, but I may be mistaken.

thanks, my 27" regular, is fairly quiet, but there is a hum... hummmmmmmm. So it's not dead quite, it's there. So the consensus is that because of the superiority of the intel chip, the new imacs are faster and don't require that huge box. Then curious why Apple keeps the same exact box for it's Mac Pro's which are not that much faster than the imacs.

Snikkers, If you are used to the Windows paradigm (multiple menu bars), then you have to re-learn things on a Mac. The menu bar will always be on top, and always only for the front application. You can not move the menu bar around. This might sound odd at first, but there is really no use of two simultaneous menu bars. You can always only work with one at a time anyways. You just need to get used to the fact that the menu bar changes...

Tests of the betas of Flash 10.1 on Mac report significantly improved performance, even if they still won't use the GPU like they do on windows. Will believe it when I see it.

Interesting. Not bad, but still seems a bit high. Flash seems to perform much better on even low end PC's than on high end Macs...

1.5 GHz? There was never a 1.5 GHz G5.

What apps and what do you want to do? Just resize the windows so each takes up half the screen. Am I missing something here?

Well, 700 MHz isn't exactly quick these days... my 867 MHz PowerBook G4 doesn't run YouTube smoothly at all. More RAM could help. Also, how much free space does the HD have on the slower eMac?
Also, 10.3.9 will be quicker anyway on an eMac.

You're right, there are quite a wide range of prices for these on the internet... I've seen anywhere from $300-800. I'd try about $450 if you're going for a quick sale. The problem with selling used iMac G5s is that Intel Mac minis are much quicker and can easily be had for around $400.

Most likely you haven't managed to get the RAM secured into the socket.

I get that sometimes when I have vendors stop into my office to try to sell me something. They'll look at the 24" iMac sitting on my workbench and say "That's a nice monitor!" then look all flabbergasted when I tell them that's the entire computer. Makes me smile every time.
