The non-free providers also need explicit permission from the owner of the data (i.e. you) to even look at your mailbox, it is illegal to examine mailboxes otherwise. Google can do whatever they want with your mail, you have no control over it, it is not your legal property.

Firefox 3.5.5 Can't add...

I've encountered this in FF as well. After cmd-d, use the folder drop-down triangle to navigate to the folder, instead of using the quick pick folder drop-down. That works for me on 3.6b4.

Firefox or Safari? What do you use?
Published (2009-11-26 14:28:00)
I use Firefox mainly, but I also use Safari and Camino. Haven't really played with Opera, but what I've seen hasn't lit a fire under me to try it.

Anyone try the 64-bit vlc? The latest version is 1.0.2 but I haven't installed it. I've been using MacTheRipper to rip. Haven't really tested RipIt, because they charge $20 for it.

Cold Warrior, your suggestion worked well. Much appreciated. I should have mentioned that the problem also happened when waking the Mac from Sleep, so quite a few times each day, which was tiresome.

Well you contradict your own argument. There's no such thing as email privacy no matter which server is used, Google's or yours. If people are transmitting social security numbers, medical records, etc. through email of any kind, they are taking an enormous risk of having someone easily "owning" that information by intercepting it. Simply put, confidential information does not belong in email, period.

best photo editing software?
Published (2009-11-23 12:32:00)
If she wants to try RAW, let her try Aperture and Lightroom (there are free 30 day demos available for both). But there is a learning curve. In any case, they complement a traditional image editing app (be it Pixelmator, Photoshop CS4 or whatever), but they're not a replacement.

Handbrake 0.9.4 64-bit is out....

I tried to add a .srt file to a .mp4 file without success in this new 64-bit version to no avail. I wonder if the file names would have to be the same for the .srt files to merge properly.

I put bookmarks in my Bookmarks Toolbar all the time. Choose "Bookmark this page," then use the down arrow to select where it should go. The first item listed when I do that is the Bookmarks Toolbar.

PS: Safari still displays colors correctly.
It's only Firefox that is messed up.

You have to use the VLC nightlies for x64 support if you're ripping DVD disks, which is lame.

I've used Firefox basically since its inception, and love it. I usually "test run" new builds of browsers to see what new bells and whistles they have, but Firefox maintains the top spot in my rotation.
I'll give Safari 4 a spin when it's out of beta, however, and if it offers any advantage to Firefox (which I don't really see so far), I might use it more often.

Typically not via 'official' channels. Due to licensing issues, each store has it's own inventory of shows and music and without a billing address in the specific country you want content, you typically can't get it. And even then I'm not sure that loophole still works.

You can do that with iMovie, actually. Just import the video, then go Share -> Export to QuickTime, and then choose "Sound to AIFF".

As much as I love a well-designed app, advertisement for your software masquerading as a discussion query is SPAM and instantly disqualifies your product by default.

Yes, here are the steps:
1. Remove Microsoft Office 2008
2. Sign in or sign up for a Gmail account.
3. Forward all other mail to your Gmail account.
4. Relax and watch email instantly arrive each time you fire up your web browser.

I would strongly suggest Pixelmator : a license costs $59 and the software has come a long way from experimental to `does all that I want and zips along on my system.' I find the UI much better than Photoshop Elements (which is also more expensive). I have bought a license back when 1.0 (perhaps 1.1) came out and I've gotten free updates since. The developers started out from scratch and if ...

I would like to second this request. I've done some searching and have yet to find anything. I'm just taking an already made font, Helvetica Neue, and want to convert it to .ttf as I can embed into my site. Unless anyone knows where I can find Helvetica Neue Ultra Light in .TTF format? Thanks in advance!
