I first heard about these in conjunction with the Mercedes S class, apparently there are six of them or so, they screw up a lot, cost $600 each and are hard to get to for replacement. Someone a while back mentioned the MINI does something crazy like uses an ECU to run the climate control or something whacky about that. I know BMW's and MINIs (maybe Audi and Mercedes too) have this thing where when you open the door the window jinks down a...

You gotta be kidding me!! There's got to be a Quality Control inspector (or several) looking for new employment from that plant. How completely sad.

Peak torque or torque curve? As for the better mileage, remember it's only in an AWD so the mileage will take a hit. Personally I hate the on-off personality of my turbo.

No, it's not representative of Honda Tech. I've never been a part of their forum before, and I'm not a member, but pretty much everyone there told him he's an idiot.

I blew air through the overflow hose to make sure it wasn't clogged and blew antifreeze over both of my cars at night. I had to clean them both with QEW.

Thanks. Great link.
I've driven my Miata on that same route (Market St. east) more then a few times.
You can still take the same trip on a historic trolley, although the trolleys are 20+ years newer. http://www.sfmta.com/cms/mfleet/histcars.php

I doubt any of them will be. Cars are notoriously fickle and the few cars that enjoying collecting things now will probably have moved on to some other hobby in 20 years. They have zero attention span.

The Body Control Module controls things like the rear view mirrors, seat position, sometimes the climate control, power windows, entertainment system, though those may be separate modules depending on the car.
Having control modules and other multiple processors allow the wire harnesses to have less actual wires, while adding lots of 'features'. Sometimes the features are there just for ...

ND? NC power absent squeaks and rattles would be nice. Overall I am content with my NA. One day maybe forced induction would make it ideal.

You're asking here, right? What do you THINK the answer is going to be???
At any rate, on another board, there are a couple posters who have used Boxsters which they bought fairly inexpensively, and to a person, none have been particularly unreliable, or even more expensive than my S2000 to maintain. If consumables (tires) are affordable, she should be fine. You'll hear tales of $200 ...

I've seen plaid interiors in supposedly authentic 40s cars -- I don't think they were anything 70s-specific.

Take one offroading and you'll understand. They can go just about anywhere. Also, they are very modifiable and fairly easy to work on - quite simple interiors and exteriors.

Well, as a former MSF instructor, you can guess my biased answer. You have to weigh your risk acceptance level. As far as where it is riskier? Urban areas in general, are more risky, simply because of more interaction with traffic. I wouldn't discount the risks in less crowded areas either. Somedays, it seems like everybody is out to get you. My suggestion is to take the "MSF" course up front, ...

Volvo's safety reputation might be due to being relatively underpowered, not structurally overbuilt. In any case, I would think your speculation is correct: almost any new car is going to offer more occupant protection in a collision than any 20+ year old Volvo.

Yeah-- I had a couple Saabs, my son has a '99. I liked the performance and "quirkiness"
A lot of people also said they got very high miles out of their specimens-- like 300-400k miles.

Which country builds the best cars overall?
I was tossing this question around the other day with some friends. When considering a car's country, we were considering where the car is built, not which country owns the brand. Best is, of course, in the eye of the beholder, and we were considering all of a country's cars, the good and ...
