Burn viable?
Published (2009-12-22 23:47:00)
Isn't...Wait...Didn't...I'm sorry I'm confused here. Your actually questioning whether Burn was viable when we clearly have RDW in the Tier 1 section? I mean yeah it's more creature heavy but the way it works is that it's mostly creatures that will get the damage through...hence Ball Lightning , Hell's Thunder , Hellspark Elemental , and Goblin Guide . I mean RDW even has a good match up against some jund...

What I really don't get is why spikes are playing magic instead of a game that really let's the more skilled players shine. Magic is more expensive and less skill based than most other competitive games.

Path irrelevant to bad in the meta?
Published (2009-12-23 23:01:00)
In my 4C Cascade build, I've thought hard about Path in the sideboard, but I run Terminate and Celestial Purge. For , it's hard to argue with, but considering my first play is usually a T3 Thrinax, I really don't want to be ramping my opponent. However, I know if I run into a Thornling or Darksteel Colossus, I'l be in trouble.

Path to Exile removes any targetable creature for 1 mana. The draw back is irrelevant because they don't have any more cards to cast with that extra mana.

I was running BloodQuake in a tournament against Jacerator. Game 1 went terribly for my opponent - his mill gave me Bloodghasts and Hellsparks, his card drawing handed me burn, and before I'd hit the halfway point on my library he was dead. Game 2 I could see the wheels turning. He went, dropped an Island. On my turn I went "Swamp, Pithing Needle - Jace".
My opponent tried not to give it away...

There are two major archetypes that could lead you in the right direction perhaps.
Both are in the competitive section so read up:
GWxBaneslayer
Naya Lightsabre
Both are in your colors, and got quite a few similar cards.
While they may not be a token deck in general, they get a good boot of planesalkers and efficient creatures with some token generation on the side.
If I come across a...

Nope!
If you can get a UGB deck working, though, there are cyclers available for 1 mana in UBG that are also creatures [and thus work with an odd Soul Stair engine you can make].
Here's a dumb combo: Lorescale and Burning Inquiry. : P 4 mana 5/5's are nice.

Land Destruction is generally one of the most hated strategies to play against, especially by noobs inexperienced players. Most competitive players will at most get pissed off by it, but its the noobs inexperienced players that whined convinced WotC to remove almost all viable land destruction and counterspells from Standard (counterspells are another strategy noobs inexperienced players ...

on MTGO- the rage is blue atm. in the tourney practice room anyhow. Every deck is a new attempt at blue control, and that will beg the question again- if they get the cards they need in WW,
what are the best cards against control in standard currently?
Not the best decks- as aggro already answers that.
Looking for the control hate cards that best fit for sideboards in various ...

It makes sense that the more Jund there is, the more their win percentage would approach 50% because of mirror matches.
HOWEVER Jund still has good percentages against most non-Jund decks. Nothing really really dominates Jund (and anyone who posts "zomg my deck _____ totally annihilates Jund" is exaggerating). Also, when Jund makes up a large percentage of an event, it will intuitively ...

It mostly flips around alot at my fnm. Most people use it as a good opportunity to test out new decks. Right now, I'm playing Jund, but am building an expensive anti-Jund deck to play. Someone played bant, but is now making a mono-white. Two play Eldrazi green. And another plays a Rafiq/Kor skyfisher combo.

Because Bushwhacker is far superior. Within that, Glory lost out as a sideboard card to Manabarbs , which has since also disappeared.

Why aren't people playing Bant?
I want your opinions about Bant why anyone is playing it? and why bant doesn't have an official Thread? i just can't understand it. Becuase bant is such a good deck with such good match ups...

Jar Jar of course works wonders as the finisher. Creatures such as Brackwater Elemental and even Kathari Screecher MIGHT be considered as well. I think we need to open our minds and try out something different.
EDIT: Living Tsunami , Phantom Warrior , Welkin Tern , Zephyr Sprite as other suggestions.

Angel just dies. With Pledge you get 6 guaranteed bodies, which are then nicely pumpable with Ajani or Honor, whereas Angel just eats a removal spell pretty much immediately. Also, getting to 6 tokens with Angel will pretty much never happen. Pledge all the way.
