the jobs will be deleted from the server once all the data arrives at the printer. When the job is copied to the memory on the printer, the spooler has completed it's job. You don't need to disable the firewall when promoting. The promotion will create the necessary exclusions in the firewall to allow communications for AD and file shares. After installing server core, I only hade to make three firewall changes. Remote Desktop, remote firewall, and remote administration.
