In addition, I am using corsair HX850W power supply which should be enough for
ATI crossfire, I guess. Could the power supply not enough?

You mean the LEDs at the back of the card are always on or off, or what do you mean? How do you monitor the number of phases used?

1 - Recommended PSU for a system with 260GTX SLI is +12V~50A, your Corsair +12~41A. Recommend you get TX650W +12V~52A as minimum PSU, better would be TX750W +12V~60A or PC P & C
Silencer 750W +12V~60A. 2 - Is that 2 PCIe 6 pin power for each card or just 1 on each card? 3 - Did you follow instructions Asus to enable SLI?
