Hello and welcome, Well with one search i found one few review of the board and a pretty short one : http://www.technotalks.com/reviews/msi-lets-out-th e-nf980-g65-motherboard/ Beware at unlocking the extra core, this might cause stabilty issues, errors and other odd behaviour. This can be due to flaws in the 3th or 4th core, one of the reasons its turned off. You might get lucky ...

Solved, sort of... Checked temperature of proc. in windows under full load, idle it was around 40C and under full load 99C ?!? Thermal safety of the processor kicked in all the time, that's why oc-genie wasn't working and had very poor benchmarking results. After checking my cooler I forgot to pull of the plastic protection tab under my cooler By the way oc-genie still doesn't...

I have the exact same board and CPU. 2X2GB OCZ DDR2 1066 MSI 9800GTX+ It was real easy to get to 3.4GHZ, rock solid I might add and I have had no desire or requirement to go higher as yet. All I had to do is remove the jumpers from the board to post at 400MHz.\My mem runs at DDR2 800 5.5.5.15 This results in a 3,4GHz clock, and all my other settings are auto. The only thing I changed ...

Now i´m testing with vcore 1.544 and still stable. But the more interesting thing is the program Core Temp 0.99.3 that a lot of people use to measure vcore. (they show 1.3250 what is really not the real voltage)

That's exactly what my Pro-E & 950 runs at for everyday, plus Turbo enabled, & power saving all enabled. RAM @ 1600, only 6G though. Your rig should hold up to any app., game, or whatever gets tossed it's way. All should be fine as long as the IOH doesn't exceed 95c on a regular basis. May I suggest using a case side fan, or maybe an Antec Spot Cool directing some extra air flow towards...
