Hello, I am using Visual Studio 2008 professional edition. I went into Tools->Options->Source Control , but couldn't see any source control there. Is VSS a default plug-in with VS 2008 ? (or) I need to purchase client license for that ? please share me the link on that stuff. Thanks in advance, Karthick

Hi Karthick, Yes, you need to purchase license for VSS. And then install VSS in your side, you will see this plug-in in Source Control Combo box. About license , you need a VSS license on each machine where you install VSS. If you decide to use a dedicated "server" machine to host the VSS database, you need a license for this "server" machine, for details, please see this thread: VSS license question...

Hi there, If I were you, I would use procmon.exe to track what VSS is doing and see where the error is coming from. (make sure to filter on the process name or ID). You can find procmon at: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb 896645.aspx Hope this helps, Remi.
