I have just installed Server 2008 R2 and every time I start Visual Studio 2005, I get the warning that I should run as administrator.  Here are the steps I have taken: - Turned off UAC, set up auto-elevate priveleges. - In the shortcut properties, clicked on Advanced and selected Run as administrator. - In the compatibility tab, selected Run this program as an administrator. - Right-clicked directly on the shortcut and selected Run as...

Hi Brady It looks that the problem is the help setup cannot locate the right source. You can do the following steps to install the Help of Visual Studio 2010 beta 2: Launch Help Library Manager from the "Help" menu in your software application. Click "Help" > "Manage Help settings". After HLM launches, click "Find content on media".  Navigate to the directory that...

Published (2009-11-26 07:44:00)
Hello Nicolas, You can disable this vshost.exe feature by unchecking the check box called "Enable the Visual Studio hosting process" in project properties->Debug page to see if this issue still exists. In addition, if you are seeing the whole CPU usage issue consistenly then I would suggest you to open a feedback here  so we can track and address the problem. Thank you for your understanding.

Yichun, I  only wish to install Visual Studio 2008. Here is the chronological order of events. 1) Whilst rebooting my machine after a Windows Update, a power outage occurred. I suspect that it occured whilst my PC was synchronising the local desktop with the remote desktop on a central server. 2) When the PC rebooted, Visual Studio 2008 no longer worked, with a warning message asking me to reinstall the program due to a missing component. 3)...

My last post was in no way an answer to anything, so I'm not sure why you marked it as such. I did ask a question in it though -  Is there any way that I can force it to create a dump file without first having to run visual studio? I'm still looking for an answer on that one. And, on the topic of marking forum threads as answered - there seems to be far too much importance placed on doing this by MS and their army of moderators...

Edwer, It's a big releif for me. Over 3 years I had that in my mind that VS is not fully installed on my machine. I wanted to look in Windows Mobile Development feature. I had exactly same issue when I tried with VS 2005. I could not beleive today when it installed successfully. It was difficult to beleive that the problem was defective media/source of installation that I downloaded.

Hi Ram, Thank you for your post. For error code 1309, the most common cause of this could be the issue reading from the source media while installing Visual Studio from CD or DVD. Could you please try copying the contents of the CD/DVD media to a local HDD and then install it from the local hard drive instead of from media? For more information, please check: http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/...

Hi Kevin, Thank you for your post. Based on your description, it seems that the crash is related to msenv.dll. For the exception code "0xc0000005", it means "Access is denied". Frankly speaking, this might be hard...
