Correct, there is no new message tree created in a DB (or Filter node), whereas there is in a Compute node. Regards, _________________ MGK WMB Development

I should have clarified it a bit better. I was thinking about using the zipnode to make the text in the body invisible to a normal user. If you used a password on it then that is an added (Allbeit not very much) way to keep the text of the email out of prying eyes. _________________ WMQ User since 1999 Message Broker User since 2002 Linux user since 1995 Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon)

Jeff was completely correct (as usual). Multi-instance brokers allow you to configure active/standby configurations. It works in the same way as multi-instance queue managers in v7.0.1, i.e. hosting the broker's configuration on shared network storage, and having one broker instance obtain a lock to that configuration which is released to the standby broker if the active broker fails. To achieve an active/active configuration on separate...

May be this will give you some ideas: We use WII to detect changes to the DB and build in the DB a "cache" for a specific query. We then retrieve the specific row of the cache via a request/reply type query using MQ and CICS triggered transaction. Turn around for the request/reply message is around 125 ms avg including Cobol to XML transformation. This would of course depend on your network and the size of the messages. Have...

The cheapest node
Published (2009-12-24 04:11:00)
As long as the ESQL is equivalent for Compute, Filter, and Database nodes, the performance difference is probably negligible. The Compute node creates three empty Output trees; this is not terribly expensive, all by itself. It's the additional ESQL to perform a tree copy that can make it expensive. This could be mitigated by: either setting 'Compute Mode' to refer to a smaller tree, and copying that; (ExceptionList is usually a...

It's unreasonable to expect that any part of an email message will be invisible to the receiver. If you can be *much* more specific about what you have been asked to do, you can probably get assistance on setting an X header in the email or on setting some other property that might accomplish what you need. But please understand. The EmailOutput node *will* not a) retry messages, b...

WMQ v7 multi-instance, does not acquire the original QM's IP address on takeover. I don't see how this can replace the HA/CMP function which does keep the same IP address for the QM after failover. Our connecting applications and queue managers are dependent on the IP name for the queue manager working. We don't use a CCDT in most cases either. We could manually perform a ...

you can write a function for parsing that string and only taking those characters which are in the range of numeric ascii values. This can easily be done in Java compute node using regex function but for esql, you need to call java function or hardcode the logic. I know this is a work around solution as well as a performance degradation, but take it as a last choice.

Can anyone elaborate what mqsistop does to currently running message flows? I presume it waits for the current executing flows to complete their processing before closing the broker? How long does it wait (suppose you have a flow running a MQGET node with a wait interval)? Is it transactionally safe to stop/start a running broker?

Hi, have you checked the location of the odbc driver file ? I would expect to find it below /opt/IBM/mqsi/6.0/merant/lib rather than /opt/ibm/mqsi/S/6.0/merant/lib I would also recommend to install a recent fixpack, 6.0.0.1 is rather old. Greetings Frank
