FOUND THE PROBLEM! So a few months ago I had an engine management unit installed. There was a wire that was connected to monitor the TPS. Well it turns out that when the unit was removed it left the wire nicked, and that wire was never repaired all the way. So I fixed the wire and now everything is back to normal. No codes. and I even have a little better throttle response haha. anyway I'm really happy that it wasnt the throttle body and...

Yes, just oil on the dipstick. Getting to the dealer asap, no driving. It had overheated this spring, turned out the fan assembly crapped out. Since then the coolant tank also developed a crack and had to be replaced. Could this be the notorious head gasket spewing coolant into my system as a result of that overheating? I'll let you all know what they find. PS, I had a friend that also had an '06 with only 14,000 miles on it...

Could be a fluke... bad gas... coil or plug terminal needing seating... plug... dirty injector... lots o' things. If it doesn't recur, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Might want to run some fuel injector cleaner or seafoam or something just because...

It sounds like the % of failures never crossed some magical threshold, and who knows, maybe there was a switch suppliers or something. Checking on what YOUR emmision warreny should not be too hard, check the manual. Usually the emmsion warrenty is a seperate card, because it varries a bit based on where the car was sold. The dealer should be able to tell you. Try calling 1-800-ask-mini, have your vin# handy. They should be able too look it up...

Oh, and while the subframe is dropped, you should probably do the control arm and swaybar bushings.

Thanks for all the help! Ordered some PowerFlex control arm and front sway bar bushings since there was some wear on them and the LF control arm bushing was cracking. Replacing the ball joints, too. Steering rack bushing is still doing fine. Supporting the community with Outmotoring.com. I've known the mechanic for several years, and bringing my own parts is generally encouraged. The restaurant analogy doesn't really fit here, since...

Thanks for the comments. I am the orignial owner and have done all routine maintenance. It's been garaged and pampered since day one! I don't know why it takes so long to get it fixed. Of course the dealer blames the warranty company for dragging their heels on authorizing payments, etc., but who knows. I've been thinking about getting a Clubman and I just am not trusting the MINI label right now. It seems like a lot of...

What usually happens is when a driver puts on their safety belt, they reach back grabbing the plastic part of the buckle and then when pulling it forward the metal buckle strikes the horn pad chipping at it........IMO the steering wheel air bag just sits too far forward making it an easy target. I have seen dealers swap out the whole air bag in cases where the badge decayed, but only while ...
