slave cylinder actuator sticking will cause the mounting to move on the slave cylinder which shouldnt happen.
clutch fliud, wether low level or ingress of moisture over time, will cause the clutch not to dis-engage the flywheel fully resulting in difficulty to change in or out of gear.
If the cluthc slipps after changing gear then it can be a goosed clutch or a sticking actuator not ...

It's not just you, the cooler air will help the engine. You could try to reposition the air intakes to the filter to help them draw more air from outside of the engine bay.

The TF 1.6 did NOT have central locking.
Quick way to check is if there is a key hole on both doors. C/L has a blanked out keyhole on passenger door.
If you had it from new the dealer should have demonstarted how the security system worked. If it didn't work they should have spotted at PDI and corrected it before you drove away in it.

I remember seeing a picture, I think Tracy had it, of a MGF towing what looked like a camping trailer, AND, it was colour coordinated. Looked a bit odd.
I must admit I often think I could do with a tow bar, and/or a roof rack, you cant get many bales of hay in an MGF.
Maybe ought to have a thread on it.The strangest things I have carried in/on my F/TF, be a bit of a laugh.
