Get your
multimeter out and follow the tutorial on dieselgiant.com for testing the W123 GP's and relay. Our relay is diff but teh principals are the same. Now you'll at least know if it is a GP (and which one) or the relay.
The code will tell you the same info if its good enough to read MB specific codes. P1_365, 7 & 9 references GP's 1 or 2, 3 or 4 and 5 or 6 respectively.

Yes, they automatically perform active regeneration when DPF restriction is
high.
Fuel economy suffers significantly because of this. The V6 3.0L engine gets similar fuel economy to the previous generation inline-6 3.2L engine due to the 7-speed transmission, smaller engine displacement and piezo injectors.

Assuming that it will start.....
fire it up and crack the fuel lines at the IP ~1/8 turn, one at a time, then retighten. Idle should deterioate if that cyl is firing. If no change, you found the bad one(s).

A VNT turbo will make a
night and day difference in stoplight acceleration, even without touching the fuel settings.

You knocked a
vaccum line off while loosening or removing the oil filter.
VERY common.
Check that area carefully.

$7500 will get you into a W210 from 96-99. 96-97 NA, 98-99 turbo'd and with more
airbags, etc.
