Oh boy. Sounds like a whole host of things. First off, the wiring could be going. Usually the tach is driven electronically. So perhaps those cables are loose. You might have to take out the instrument cluster to check. There's a guide here: http://mymbonline.com/forum/viewtopi...ee8a32e2e48237 (it's for changing bulbs, but it will still help you get the cluster out). Then, maybe you would want to have your alternator tested too....

Ample front end damage, I'm thinking about chiseling down on the price and parting it out or trying to do the body work myself.

Wheel arch rim rust protection...
Published (2009-11-29 20:31:00)
Does no-one suffer from rust on the wheel arch rims here..?!!! I can't believe mine is the only W202 with this problem? Or do you all sell yours long before rust is an issue? Anyway, I found some protective plastic strips (E-Tech Wheel Arch Protector, £8.60 each from needforspeed.co.uk) to cover the front wheel arch inner lips (the rears are folded over against the wing, so nothing can be attached, so I'll just put dinitrol or...

It sounds like the tach is just sticking to the resting needle. A common issue. If so, you would just need to remove the cluster and clean the needle.

The arm will pull back. Just pull it away from the windshield. It may take a little bit more force than you would think is necessary. Do it slowly and if something seems like it's wrong, stop and maybe go to a gas station and have them do it.

Wheel arch rim rust protection covers?
Can anyone help? I've just finished treating the surface rust on the inside lip of the wheel arch on all 4 wings of my 1998 C280 Estate/T (W202). Luckily it hadn't spread from the turned-under lip of the wing around the wheel arch (only visible when looking up ...

Have you figured it out?
One of my friends has a 1969 benz diesel which he converted to bio-diesel. He's been working on cutting out rust and welding in new pieces. Anyway, he's been having the same problem. In his case, there are leaks in the firewall. So maybe check that out. See even if you can recreate the problem. Perhaps pour water on different parts on the outside of the car (around ...

Quick tranny ? on 95 C 220
Hey guys. I had an 05 C 240 that I just sold but I had to take a 95 C 220 on trade to get rid of it. The car is minty and only has 140000 kms on it ( 86000 miles ). Its an auto. Every time I get in to it and drive it for the first few blocks the tranny revs high before it will ...
